-Olivia-
Just as I was about to start eating my lunch, the fire alarm sirens blared around the school halls and we were ordered to line up outside for safety.
I turned around to Freya and Ivy in confusion, Freya's face had paled visibly, all of the colour in her cheeks vanished.
"Are you okay?" I asked her.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine," she replied ushering Ivy and I outside.
As we went outdoors, Blake and Oscar joined us - Blake with a frown on his face and Oscar not meeting my eyes.
"This idiot elbowed the fire button by accident," Blake said, gesturing to Oscar.
I raised my eyebrows, "How did that happen?"
Still looking at the ground, Oscar said bluntly, "I tripped."
My eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
Is he annoyed at me?
Was it something I had said?
We formed a line with the rest of our class when our teacher frowned, "Where is Aria?"
I looked at Blake and Ivy but they all seemed as clueless as I, about where she was.
But then I saw her walking begrudgingly to our line like she wanted to be anywhere else but there in that moment.
"Aria!" Our teacher yelled. "Where have you been, the fire alarm has rang - for all we know there could be a fire in that building!"
She shrugged and walked to where Blake and I were standing. Blake's mouth opened as if he was about to say something but then he closed it.
Aria stared solemnly at Blake before facing the front; only I could see the single tear rolling down her cheek.
"Are you okay?" I whispered to her and placing my hand on her shoulder.
"I just need more time," She replied, her voice choked from crying.
I quickly glanced at Blake behind me and with painful sadness I realised:
So do I.

At the end of the day, I walked home and opened the door to see Sophie eagerly waiting for me in the hallway.
"How was your day?" She asked. "Also, do you have any plans for Friday tomorrow? I was thinking we could have a movie night!"
Sophie was 20 years-old and she went to a university in London, which was why she was my mum's first choice to look after me. She was so nice that she was more like a sister to me than my aunt.
"Well, actually," I replied slowly - almost feeling a little embarrassed. "I've been invited to a birthday party for tomorrow."
"Oh Olivia that's great!" She grinned. "Who's birthday?
"A boy called Blake," I felt my cheeks heat up and I wanted to slap myself.
I am so stupid.
"Ooh okay!" She smirked. "Just make sure you don't stay out later than 10 or do anything illegal for your age because otherwise your mum will kill me."
I laughed: "She'd probably would kill us both!"
Abruptly, I got a text message:
-Freya-
Hi!I texted back:
-Me-
Hey Freya!-Freya-
So what are you wearing for the party tomorrow???
I froze, starting to freak out.
Wear?
I hadn't even thought about what I was going to wear.
Wearing jeans and a top is fine, right?
-Me-
I don't know... I haven't really thought about it. Does it even matter? I'm sure Blake doesn't care about what we wear to his party!-Freya-
What? You can't be serious! It's tomorrow Tessa and you should at least have a vague idea of what you're gonna wear!
I sighed.
-Me-
So I suppose jeans and a top is not an option, then?-Freya-
Definitely not!Oh no.
I looked up from my phone screen frantically, "Sophie, I need a lot of help."
"Sure what is it?" She asked, her eyebrows raised.
"What should I wear for the party?"
We opened my wardrobe but there wasn't anything. Only multiple tops, jeans and leggings - definitely no party wear.
We were about to give up and go to the shopping centre to buy something, when I saw a lovely dress at the back of my closet.
My mouth gaped open in shock, "I didn't even know I had this!"
"Try it on! Try it on!"
It was a maroon laced dress with a black belt, that I paired with a long white cardigan and flat pumps.
It wasn't too outgoing but simple and comfortable to wear - just right for me.
Sophie grinned, "You look so pretty! This is perfect."
I looked in the mirror, for once feeling satisfied with how I looked, but my smile trembled as I saw a glimpse of the Batrachotoxin poison in my bag.
I wasn't sure what happened after that.
Subconsciously, I saw Sophie leave the room and found myself sitting on my bed, staring at the colourless walls of my bedroom.
I thought that tears would come but they never did.
Instead, they were replaced with a solid emotional cage of sadness, loneliness and longing.
Longing that somehow, everyone I cared for would be able to stay alive - even Blake.
But that was unrealistic.

It's nearly at the climax of the story! What do you think will happen?
