-Blake-

I woke up and in shock found myself in a dim-lit cellar, my hands tied behind my back.

Where am I?

After a few moments of becoming adjusted to the darkness of the room, I saw four figures on the other side of the cellar - one of them crying in the familiar voice I recognised as Harper.

"Where are we?" She cried. "And where is Blake? Is he okay?"

I pulled at the rope tying me behind my back in frustration, anxiously wanting to join my family.

But the rope burned against my skin and the more I tried, I could feel blood slowly dripping down them.

"Harper!" I yelled, even though my voice was almost gone. "I'm here!"

I heard a muffled cry in response and my dad replied: "Oh, Blake!"

"Why are we here?" I whispered.

And who brought us here?

"Just keep holding on," Mum replied, her voice choked like she was crying.

I slumped against the wall starting to lose all hope of seeing daylight again when unexpectedly, artificial lights flickered on in the room, temporarily blinding us.

A tall man, dressed entirely in black with a long scar on his cheek and a glinting smirk walked into the room

"Hello everyone," He grinned maliciously. "I hope you are feeling comfortable in my humble abode."

He walked menacingly towards Harper and Toby, putting me on edge.

"Don't you dare touch them!" I yelled.

He slowly turned around to me, still with a grin on his face, "Blake Evans. We meet again."

Again?

I looked at my parents across the room for any clue to whether I had actually met this man before but their expressions remained unreadable.

"What do you want with us?" I demanded and he smirked in reply.

"Oh, don't worry! We're getting on to that!" He stuck his head outside of the door and beckoned someone to come in. "You can come in now."

I was anticipating who it was but when she walked into the room, my stomach churned and I gasped, feeling suddenly short of breath.

With great pain, I recognised her wavy brown hair and her beautiful coffee brown eyes in an instant.

Tessa?

However, what pained me the most, was that she couldn't even meet my gaze, as if she was guilty of something.

No.
She can't be the reason why my family and I are trapped here, can she?

Her eyes kept lowered and her shoulders slumped forward, like a heavy weight was on them.

Why is she here?

My mind whirred with so many questions and possible answers that for a few moments, I couldn't even speak.

Finally, I whispered, "Tessa?"
Merely saying her name usually made my stomach flutter with butterflies...

She looked up at me slowly, with a hard, unfathomable expression on her face and to my surprise the butterfly sensation I usually had when she was around, was not there.

Instead, they were replaced with hurt, confusion and hollowness.
