The Courageous

Waging wars, day and night,

They say living is solely for the valiant knight.

Warriors are cherished, however battered be their ardor,

Astounding is their status, exalted is their order.

Unsurprisingly then, we choose to be called martyrs,

For the simple reason of being made to choose barters.

When life makes a wretched unexpected turn,

The sordidness makes our insides churn.

Morosity ascends and causes the armour to fall,

Descending in the pits of hell, only the brave can manage to crawl.

Life is seldom lucid, obscurity is its cornerstone,

The wise alone, can feel its chill, to the bone.

Fortitude is an art honed not a conferred bequest,

In difficult times, it delivers unending zest.

The difference between the fearless and the courageous

Is that one talks a great deal and the other is ambiguous.

While the absence of fear is an impossible feat,

The presence of courage makes Herculean tasks obsolete.

Life is delineated by transitions incessant,

Its only constant is the craft of being evanescent.

Those that decipher this secret, thrive,

Whilst those that can't, merely strive.
