When I was a child of three,

My Granny said to me, "My little rabbit,

With your teeth like pearly moonlight so pure

Smile occasionally, the world needs that more."

When I was a child of four,

My Granny said to me, "My little kitten,

With your eyes like expressions sublime so clear,

Let them twinkle, spread the cheer."

When I was a child of seven,

My Granny said to me, "My little deer,

With your antics like innocence divine so untainted,

Spread the love, lend a hand to those that need it."

When I was a child of eight,

My Granny said to me, "My little duckling,

Remember what I told you, never forget,

The world needs more of your unhindered mess."

When I was a child of ten,

I waited and wept, my Granny didn't talk to me anymore,

I said to her, "Look, I am all that you asked of me,

I am more of you and less of the child I used to be."

When I was a teenager of eleven,

I stopped crying but ached to hear her voice,

I would visit her grave and ask her,

"Am I the girl you hoped me to be?"

When I was a grown girl of yore,

I looked up to the skies and called out to her,

"Does it chafe at you or impart you peace?

I am more of you than you could ever be."

Hey there folks!

It's been a few days I hadn't updated.. It was my beloved Dadi's death anniversary just a few days ago. So I thought, why not write a bit about the loving, beautiful, strong-willed lady? Nothing I say will ever suffice to sum up what she meant to me.

I'm sure it doesn't chafe at her at all, that not only am I 'her', in mannerisms but also 'her' in how I look. She must be chilling up there with the rest of my grandparents, cousins, family and gloating, look, she is my human embodiment.

Tell me, did you have anyone that you loved so very much? And yet still it felt like they loved you way more... I would love to know who you hold dear and who lives in your soul.

How did you find the poetry? I went the free verse way for this one...

As always, if you liked it, please do vote. If you loved it, let me know in your comments!

Cheers!
