Quarantine

When this is all over,

May we never again take for granted

A simple walk under the splendid sun,

May we never underestimate

The sheer power of a friendly hug,

May we never ignore full shelves,

At our favorite food store,

May a crowded theater

Not annoy us evermore,

May we shake hands with strangers

And talk to our neighbours,

May every coffee with a friend

Bring a blissful rush,

May rush hour traffic

Never agitate us,

May we feel alive with

Every precious breath we take;

But before this ends,

May we realize

How blessed we are,

We have a roof on our head,

A pantry full of food,

A means to an end;

We have families that care,

Healthcare that provides,

And hope that this will end,

When it does end,

We will have friends to meet

And safe countries to call home,

Not everyone is as lucky;

People die of hunger and thirst,

They die alone on cold, lifeless roads,

Before this ends;

I hope we understand that

We have a life to get back to,

While we are blessed,

Others have today or

Nothing at all,

When this ends,

May we become better people

And may we stay that way forevermore.

Hello, folks!

I remembered this exists :p

How is lockdown treating you all? I hope you are abiding by the law and following healthcare guidelines. The more we work together towards this in physical distancing, the sooner this will be over.

Anyway, what do you think of this one? It is honestly the ramblings of an overworked and extremely lonely mind. It's day 26 since I've been in isolation. Three weeks of rigid quarantine because I came in touch with someone who was COVID-19 positive and then now the country is in lockdown, so double whammy. I haven't seen a physical person is almost a month and I never thought I'd say this but it's weird. Like batshit weird.

Even though I've been busy with virtual classes and work from home, this whole scenario gave me a lot of time to think and brought with it numerous hard-hitting epiphanies. I have way more to be thankful for than I consider. I hope you guys come out of this thinking the same.

Let me know what you think of this no rhyme, written in 5 minutes, attempt at poetry.

Stay safe!

Cheers,

Zoya
