"I said, let me go!"

Cecilia had spat out the cloth and was trying to kick the guy who held her from behind as she was lead out of her dorm building.

"Shut up or I'll make sure you won't speak ever again."

The voice sounded vaguely familiar, but she knew it wasn't one of her friends. She hadn't heard that voice in quite a while. To her own dismay she figured it'd be better if she stopped talking and instead started focusing on her other senses. She made sure to imprint the sounds she heard and the smell in the air in her mind. She wouldn't let them get away with this.

She heard the sound of water flowing before she was eventually brought to a place inside and was harshly placed on a chair before her arms got tied to the armrests and her legs to the legs of the chair.

She heard the three men leave and after a short while, the door opened again and someone walked in. he walked past her and she inhaled deeply. He smelled like smoke.

"What have you been burning before you came here?"

The man laughed, the sound distant in front of her, "impressive! Your senses sure are incredible, even if it is because of your secondary power."

"I asked you a question."

"Unfortunately for you, dear Cecilia, you're not here to ask me questions. I heard some shocking news yesterday. Quite disappointing if you ask me. My sweet Cecilia, you're rebelling against the Council? Why would you even think of doing such a thing?"

Cecilia huffed, "don't play dumb."

"And you shouldn't act all high and mighty. I know you're scared. You always are."

Cecilia didn't reply and instead tried to pull her arms out of the cuffs they were placed in.

"That's a useless struggle. You know as well as I do that you're not very strong."

"What do you want from me?" Cecilia spat out the words, getting irritated at the man's carefree voice. He was playing with her, clearly looking down on what she was capable of.

"I want you to stop this nonsense and obey the Council's rules just like you've always done. We've taken good care of you since you were born. The least you could do is show some gratitude."

"I never said I wasn't grateful. I'm grateful for the food, the house and the education you've given me but I won't be grateful for the exploitation of people to achieve all that. What you're doing is wrong and I won't be grateful for that."

"But dear Cecilia, what makes it so wrong for us to employ the people who we raised ourselves? The exploitation you're talking about is nothing more than the people with useful powers serving the Council."

"Stop spewing such nonsense!" Cecilia yelled and the man took a sharp breath.

"You can't rebel. You have nowhere to hide. Break one rule and you'll be thrown in prison for the rest of your life. Your powers are useless, and so are you. You're disabled and unable to protect yourself. Give up while I'm still lenient with you."

His voice had sounded harsh and filled with hate, and when Cecilia didn't reply, he took a deep breath before speaking up again.

"I see you're very close to the heat boy. Anthony, right? I hadn't expected you to go for such a person. If you'd left it to us we surely would've paired you up with your friend, Eden."

"I don't care who you would've paired me up with. I made my choice and you can't interfere."

"We'll see. Let's hope nothing unfortunate happens to Anthony. When was the last time you saw him?"
