Chapter 46: Duel

3rd April, 2.20pm

Kim's POV

I grabbed my shield and shamballa and walked towards the arena. As the doors open for me, I was amazed by the sheer size of it. It was suspending off the mountain! (As seen above in the picture). Cheers and screaming of spectators filled the air and I could see a girl with blazing red hair and eyes in the middle of the arena. Her hair was tied in a braid and she was almost the same age as me. She wore the Spearton helmet and uniform but had a red cape. I walked towards her.

"So you are the one I was supposed to fight." She said and readied her spear. 

Her spear is different than the other soldiers' weapons. It is black in colour but the tip is golden. Her shield is also different. Instead of silver, her shield is golden i colour. 

"Yes. My name is Kim Ackerman of the Order Empire Army and the leader of the Griffins. Nice to meet your acquaintance " I said.

"And I am Colonel Zoey Winfield of the 76th Spearton Revolutionary Guard Company. Let's make this duel a good one." She said.

The crowd cheered and screamed when she introduced herself. She looks strong, but I won't falter!

"THE BATTLE WILL COMMENCE IN A MINUTES' TIME. COMPETITORS, PLEASE READY YOURSELVES!" The commentator said. 

We went 10 meters away from each other and waited for the signal to start. She and I stood in stance and we glared down at each other. One minute passed on for like an eternity as I waited for the commentator. And finally, it is going to begin. The crowd and the commentator started to countdown by 10 seconds.

"START!" The commentator shouted and we rushed at each other.

We rushed at lightning speed and clashed in the middle of the arena. Shamballa glowed yellow due to the impact when we clashed. I swiftly jumped back and readied my shield to block all her attacks. Winfield's strikes are insane! She moved her spear so fast that I couldn't even see the motion. And it's not only her speed, every one of her attacks are immensely strong! 

I moved in with my spear to buy some time but she was too fast! She grazed my right cheek and went for a strike at my forehead. 

"Rho Aias!" I chanted and a massive purple magic circle appeared in front of me. 

Winfield was shocked when she saw my magic circle but continued to stab my forehead. Then, her spear was stopped by my magic. She then jumped high up into the air and away from me. 

The crowd was speechless. 

Rho Aias is actually a magic shield. I thought that it was a magic that slows down my speed. 

"What was that?!" She demanded. 

"Just a little magic I learned." I said with a smirk.

Winfield looked enraged, I mean really enraged.

"That's not fair! How do you even know magic?!" She shouted. 

"That's not the only spell I know." I said.

Winfield grind her teeth in anger. She then rushed towards me at twice the speed as just now! 

"Rho Aias!" I chanted again and a purple magic shield appeared to protect me.
