Chapter 32: Yoake

9th March 1074, 1.24pm  

The meeting between General Johan from the Speartons and Recon team from the Order Empire is going to take place at Peligor Fields at 2.30pm. The meeting will be about some matters regarding the joining of the Speartons into the Alliance. Recon team is almost reaching their destination, they would rather be early than late. 

"I can see it!" Mark exclaimed while pointing at a vast plains ahead of them.

"Yeah, we are almost there." Ace replied.

At this moment, Grace detected a murderous presence in front of them and shot an arrow towards that direction. Recon team became shocked when her arrow suddenly flew over them and landed into a tree.

"Hey! What was that for?!" Elizabeth exclaimed.

"It's an enemy." Grace replied while reloading another arrow. "Show yourself coward!"

A sinister male voice suddenly spoke behind the tree. "Well, well, well. It seems that I have been caught. But no matter, I was about to kill you all anyway." 

He then showed himself, he was wearing a red cloak but his face is visible. He had red eyes and long black hair tied in a ponytail with a piercing on his nose and is holding a black spear with red inscriptions on it. 

"You. You are Basiel Of the Shadow Spear!" Ace exclaimed in shock.

"Basiel Of the Shadow Spear? You mean the Spearton criminal who killed anyone for money?" Mark asked.

"Yeah, he even dared to killed military officials for money. He is a S-ranked criminal wanted by all great nations for his crimes. His powers and skills are unknown as he leave no survivors, be careful." Ace added on while drawing his sword. 

"Looks like I became quite famous. I like it. And he is right, I am a mercenary killer which kills for money. I don't care who it is, if I get the money, I am happy." Basiel remarked.

"Ace and Mark, you two and I will take this guy head on. Grace and Elizabeth will be supporting us from the sidelines." Kim commanded. 

The rest of them nodded and got into formation.

"That would not save you. After all, I am with the shadows." Basiel said and suddenly disappeared into the shadows of the trees.

"What the. Where is he?" Mark exclaimed.

"He disappeared!" Elizabeth remarked.

"Stay on your guard. He may-" Ace was cut off when a fist suddenly appeared from the ground and punched his chin.

"Ace! Fall back!" Kim commanded and drew his sword.

But it was too late. Basiel appeared in front of Ace and smacked him into the ground with his spear. Ace was knocked out cold.

"Ace! Hang in there!" Grace shouted and tried to take aim at Basiel.

However, Basiel again disappeared into their shadows.

"The shadows! He is moving through our shadows!" Elizabeth shouted and ran to Ace.

"Seems like you caught on." Basiel said as he reappeared again on a tree. "That's right, my ability is to sneak around in the shadows while waiting for the right time to strike."

"He's dangerous. Everyone, form a defensive circle with Ace in the middle!" Kim commanded and they swiftly got into position.

"So that's Siegfried's little brother huh? Pretty weak if you ask me." Basiel mocked and disappeared into the shadows again.

There was a moment of silence, recon team is anticipating Basiel's attack. Five minutes passed that felt like hours to them and then suddenly, Basiel reappeared in front of Kim and tried to stab him.

"DIE!" Basiel shrieked and stabbed through Kim's body.

Kim spat out blood and fell to his knees. The pain was unbearable, he just had a spear impaled into him.

"KIM!" Grace screamed and ran towards him.

"Dammit!" Mark cursed and charged towards Basiel.

Basiel then disappeared into the shadows and reappeared a few meters in front of them.

"He's done for. Once someone gets stabbed by my spear, Shanballa, the victim instantly dies from it's curse. Yes this is Shanballa The Cursed Shadow Spear." Basiel explained.

"You cowardly bastard!" Mark shouted and charged towards Basiel.

Basiel smirked and aimed a strike into Mark's chest but was stopped when Grace hit a shot into his right shoulder. Basiel grunted in pain and disappeared into the shadows.

Kim's POV

What the hell. It seems that I die here. What a life I have lived. At the moment I was about to blackout and die peacefully, I heard a deep male voice.

I will not let you die. You are my incarnation after all.

I then suddenly woke up.

Out of POV

"LEAVE HIM TO ME!" Kim suddenly screamed.

Recon team looked at him in horror and also in shock. His wound from Shanballa has disappeared and his left eye turned yellow in colour, blazing in anger.

Basiel reappeared on a tree and looked at Kim in shock.

"That's impossible! I stabbed you with Shanballa!" Basiel shrieked.

Kim then moved so fast that he looked like an image. He appeared behind Basiel and punched him in his back, crushing and destroying his rib cage.

Basiel screamed in pain and instinctively, disappeared into the shadows. Kim fell from the tree and coughed blood while his eye turned back into a brown colour. Recon team then went to him and inspected Ace's and his wounds.

"Kim, what was that?" Mark asked.

"I don't know. All I know is that I feel weird." Kim answered.

"Well, that is a weird answer. No pun intended." Mark added on.

After treating their wounds, recon team decided to continue their mission. But once they reached Peligor Fields, they were shocked to see the Spearton soldiers including  General Johan were killed. Their bodies littered the area with a stench of blood everywhere.

After that incident, the Speartons thought that the Order Empire killed        General Johan and his men. And so, they declared war on the Allies.

On 9th March 1074, the Speartons have entered the war, on the rebels' side. And thus, the Third Great 5 Nations War has begun.
