Chapter 49: Dark Mage Appears

6th April, 11.32am

Mark's POV

God the air smells horrible. It reeks of soot and smoke. The air is in total chaos, explosions rocked the ground left and right, citizens screamed for help while soldiers hurried to maintain whatever order was left. Ace, Elizabeth and I raced towards the town square, where the explosions were the most intense. On the way there, I saw dead civilians crushed under debris and soldiers helping one another. 

"Where is that rampaging Magikill?!" Ace shouted at an injured soldier who is limping on a leg.

"NO! Don't go there! That bitch slaughtered my entire platoon! You all better run too!" He screamed. 

"I will ask again, where is she?!" Ace shouted again.

"Ace!" Elizabeth shouted.

Then the soldier pointed behind him. 

"She's at the town square, Don't say I didn't warn you!" He said and limped away.

"Well? Let's go!" Ace drew his sword and sprinted.

I heard Elizabeth sighed and muttered something under her breath before she took off with him. I sighed as well then followed after them.

From a distance, I could see a figure of a person hovering in mid-air with a wand in hand.

"Ace! I think I saw her!" I exclaimed.   

"Where?!" He shouted.

"2 o'clock, we are about 10 meters away from her and she's about 5 meters off the ground!" I shouted. 

Ace and Elizabeth then stopped running and looked at the direction I said, their eyes popped out. 

"How is she doing that?!" Elizabeth shouted. 

"Maybe some sort of magic, what's our plan?" I asked Ace.

"Simple, we surround her and kill her." He said. 

"Ace, this isn't that simple." Elizabeth remarked. 

"Then how are we supposed to do?" He said. 

Then another explosion rocked the earth. It happened just right next to us. 

"Well, what do I see here? Looks like I have discovered some cockroaches hiding under a rock." A sinister voice said above us. 

We all looked up and saw her. She's wearing a red cloak and had a staff with blue flames at the tip. 

"Well look at what we see, a coward woman who relies on flying magic so that her enemies can't hurt her." Ace taunted. 

A frown appeared on her face.

"What a shame, looks like I'll have to kill such a handsome man." She said and her staff glowed in a dark blue color. 

"Guys disperse and duck!" I shouted and we all split up.

Then an explosion occurred right where we were previously standing. 

Ace, Elizabeth and I drew our swords and took stance. 

"Kill her!" Ace shouted and jumped into the air to reach her but it was useless. She was just too high up. 

"HAHAHA! This is entertaining indeed! Looking at a handsome man like you trying so hard when it is futile is so funny!" The Magikill laughed. 

Ace was mad, like he was raging like a bull. He tried s again and again but it was futile like the Magikill said. She was just toying with him. Meanwhile, Elizabeth was getting some high ground, she went and climbed a ruined building so that she could jump off it and potentially hit her.
