Chapter 2

Veronica POV

Me and Tony worked late night finishing up everything about the Cube. He wanted me to go with him but I came back to the Helicarrier to start the search party on the Cube.

I got down from the quinjet and searched for a known person. I noticed Nat talking with Steve Rogers and Bruce Banner and made my way towards them.

"You got Ms. Booth in?" Banner asked just as I reached them. "Looks like they did" I said stopping in front of them.

"Ronnie!" Nat exclaimed and hugged me. "How are you? After Clint?" I asked. "Trying to sink in" she replied. Then I turned to the two men.

"Dr. Banner. Honoured to meet you" I said putting my hand out. "Pleasures' mine. Your patterns in Nuclear weapons is exceptional" he said taking my hand.

I just gave him a smile and then turned to the other person. "So you're the man out of time!....No offences" I said.

"None Taken. Steve Rogers" he said putting out his hand. "Veronica Booth" I said taking it.

"Isn't everything strange for you, all of this?" I asked him. "Well this is actually kind of familiar" he replied.

"Gentlemen, you may have to step inside in a minute. It's gonna get a little hard to breath" Nat said.

"Is this kind a submarine?" Steve asked. "Really they wanted me in a submerged pressurized metal container?" Banner asked and both of them moved closer to the edge of the Helicarrier. Me and Nat looked at each other smiling. The ship slowly started to rise up in the air.

"Oh no, this is much worse" Banner said. I smiled at him. "We've gotta go inside" I said and all four of us made our way inside.

We found Fury in the main room. "Gentlemen " he greeted Cap and Banner. I saw Cap giving 10 bucks to Fury. It must be a bet.

"Doctor thank you for coming" Fury said to Banner. "Thank you for asking nicely" he replied looking at Nat. I know that look and I gave Nat a smirk.

"So,uh....how long am I staying? Banner asked." Once we get our hands on the Tesseract, you're in the clear. And Ms. Booth will help you" Nick replied.

"Um..where are you in that? " I asked. "We're sweeping every wirelessly accessible camera on the planet. Cell phones, laptops. It its connected to a satellite, its eyes and ears for us" Phil explained.

"That's still not gonna find them in time" Nat said looking worried at Clint in the computer screen.

"We have to narrow the field" I said. "Yeah. How many spectrometers do you have access to?" Banner asked.

"How many are there?" Fury asked. "Basically we need everything. Call in every lab and tell them to put the spectrometers on the roof" I said.

"Tell them to calibrate them for gamma rays. Ms Booth and I'll rough out a tracking algorithm based on cluster recognition. At Least we could rule out few places." Banner said looking at me. I nodded.

"I'll show you the lab" I said as me and Banner made out way. I looked at Steve and gave a small smile. He returned it.

Me and Banner tried all we could to try find that Cube. But we couldn't. "This guy is pretty good in hiding stuff" Banner said working on the system.

"We have the best guy and he is called Bruce Banner" I said smiling. He smiled at me.

"No...I am not the best. I didn't have four PhDs at the age of 25. I am pretty sure I had only two at that time. And anger issues" he said. I turned towards him.

"So how do you control him, the other guy?" I asked. "I never do" he replied blankly looking at the screen. I looked at him wide eyed.

"Does that mean he could come any time out?" I asked with fear in my voice. He just humped his shoulders.

"Right. Do not make you angry. Noted!" I said. He laughed. "I heard you too have powers" he said.

"Oh...yep. I do. Just prefer not to use them" I said looking at my hands. "You seem sad on that" He said.

" Just not a fan of blue stuff coming out of my hand" I said. "Is that why they call you Blue?" He asked. I nodded. Then I looked at my computer.

"Dr. Banner I am pretty sure that we should again work on that algorithm" I said. "Call me Bruce" he said. I looked at him. He gave me a smile."Call me Ronnie" I said with a smile.

Since our search party for the Cube kept on and on failing, I tried finding it with a locating software in the tech lab.

"Any luck?" I asked the agent working with the software. "No mam. I've tried a dozen times, but the results are always 'No match'" he said.

"Just keep trying" I said and went out. I went straight to the main room. I entered to find everyone there. Even Thor was there.

"Ronnie!" Tony shouted as I walked inside. "Found something?" Bruce asked. I shook my head saying no.

"They took Iridium" Steve said to me. "It's a stabilizing agent. It'll stabilize the portals" I said. "See I was right" Tony said.

"He's collecting the raw materials" I said. "Which he can get easily. Only major component he still needs is a power source. A high energy density, something to kick start the Cube" Tony explained.

"When did you become an expert in Thermonuclear Astrophysics? "Hill asked Tony.

"Last night. With Ronnie who helped me with the Nuclear and Physics part" Tony said.

"We had the packet. Selvig's notes, the extraction theory papers" I said. "Are we the only one who did the reading?" Tony exclaimed.

"Does Loki need any particular kind of power source?" Steve asked. "He's got to heat the Cube to hundred and twenty million Kelvin to break through the Coulomb barrier" Bruce said.

"Unless Selvig has figured out how to stabilize the quantum tunnelling effect" Tony said. "Well if he could do that he could achieve Heavy Fusion...." Bruce stopped. "At any reactor on the planet" I completed.

"Finally, someone who speaks English"Tony said walking towards Bruce. "Is that what just happened?" Steve asked. I smiled at him. Tony and Bruce shook hands.

"It's good to meet you Dr. Banner. You're work on anti electron collisions is unparalleled. I am sure Ronnie's is not even near your's" he said. I opened my mouth to protest.

"And I am a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster" Tony cut me off. Steve smiled at me.

"Thanks" Bruce said looking down. "Dr. Banner is only here to trace the Cube with Booth. And I was hoping you might join them" Fury said entering.

"Let's start with that stick of his. It might be magical, but it works an awful lot like a HYDRA weapon" Steve said.

"I don't know about that, but it is powered by the Cube. And I'd like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying monkeys" Nick said.

"Monkeys? I do not understand" Thor said confused. "I do! I understood that reference" Steve said excited and proud.

I patted on his shoulder. Thor looked at me.

"I'll tell you afterwards " I said when Tony rolled his eyes. "Shall we play Doctors?" Tony asked me and Bruce. " Yeah this way" Bruce said and they both made they're way out. I sighed.

"If I am missing, you'll find me in the lab passed out due to working with these crackheads" I said to Nat. She smiled. "Crackheads?" Thor asked again. I raised my eyebrows at him. Others laughed.

"You have a lot to learn" I said patting his chest and going out.
