Chapter 3

Veronica POV

I was in my room still working out algorithms. Tony and Bruce were doing it in the lab. I came here to see if I could get focus alone. My phone vibrated. "Come to the lab" it was a text from Nat. I immediately made my way out.

I caught her and Thor on the way. "Hey what happened? " I asked. "Loki plans to unleash the Hulk" she said throwing me something. It was a earcom. I put it in my ear as we entered the lab only to find everyone's eyes pissed.

"What happened?" I asked. "Did you know about this?" Bruce asked Nat. "You wanna think about removing yourself from this environment, doctor?" Nat asked. I looked at an Assault Rifle on the table. I made my way towards it.

"Where did this come from?" I asked. "They are building it" Steve said to me. I looked at him in shock. And then turned to Fury.

"Why in the world are you building weapons that cause mass destruction?" I shouted at Fury.

"So you didn't know about it?" Steve asked. "Hell no!!....if I'd known I would have stopped it." I said pissed.

"I'd like to know why SHIELD  is building the weapons" Bruce shouted. "Because of him" Fury pointed at Thor. Thor looked stunned. "Me?" He asked confused.

"Last year earth had a visitor from another planet who had a grudge match that levelled a small town. We learned that not only are we not alone but we are hopelessly, hilariously outgunned" Fury said.

"My people want nothing but peace with your planet" Thor said. "But you're not the only people out there, are you? And you're not the only threat. The world's filling up with people who cannot be matched, they can't be controlled" Nick shouted.

"Like you controlled the Cube?"Steve interwined. "You're work with the Tesseract is what drew Loki to it, and his allies. It is the signal to all the realms that the earth is ready for higher form of war" Thor justified.

"A higher form?" Steve asked. "You forced our hand. We had to come up with something" Fury said.

"And you thought of Nuclear deterrent. Cause that always calms everything right down. Do you know how much people's life you're playing with" I shouted.

"I had to do it. Remind me again how Stark made fortune?" Nick asked. "I'm sure if he still made..." Steve was cut off. "Wait! Wait! Hold on! How is this about me?" Tony asked.

"I'm sorry...isn't everything" Steve said. "Stop this! This is what Loki wanted" I shouted.

"I thought humans were more evolved than this" Thor said. "Excuse me,did we come to your planet and blow stuff out?" Fury asked Thor in anger.

And everything went chaos. Egos rubbing of and at any moment the shot will hit the fan. I noticed the gem in the sceptre glowing brightly.  And I knew something was wrong.

"Guys, something is wrong" I said but none of them seemed to account me. "Big man in a suit of armour. Take that off what are you?" Steve asked face to face with Tony.

"Genius, billionaire , playboy, philanthropist" Tony argued. "I know guys with none of that worth ten of you. Yeah I've seen the footage. The only thing you really fight for it yourself. You're not the guy to make the sacrifice play, to lay down on the wire and let the other guy crawl over you" Steve said.

"Steve!" I shouted. "What? He may not be a hero. But he better stop pretending to be a hero!" Steve said towards me.

"A hero? Like you? You're a lab rat Rogers, everything special about you came out of a bottle! "Tony spat. That would have really hurt Steve.
