Chapter 34

Steve POV

As Scott gave them a distraction and us a signal, me and Bucky ran towards the hanger. Vision blast his powers to topple the hanger into pieces and it came crumbling down.

Red energy caught the debris from hitting the ground. We turned and saw Wanda.

"Move!" I yelled and we paced faster. Suddenly the powers holding it went off and we heard Wanda wail. I used my shield as a slide and slid past the collapsing block.

Once we entered Nat and Ronnie appeared before blocking us from the quinjet. Ronnie looked at me with pleasing eyes.

"You're not gonna stop" Nat asked.

"You know I can't" I replied. "Steve please..." Ronnie started. I cut her off. "We have to go Ronnie" I shouted. It kind of took her aback.

"Don't you see, five soldiers Ronnie. FIVE! Of them. What part of it you don't understand?" I shouted. She just stood there with no expression.

"I am gonna regret this" Nat said aiming her shots at us. But she fired them past us and hit the Panther behind us.

"Go" she said as she shot another one. I looked st Ronnie one last time. She didn't even look at me. She was just looking down. We entered the quinjet and took off.

I know it hurt her. But I cannot listen to her and wait. We flew past the Airport only for Rodney and Stark  to follow us. Sam was following them.

Vision hit his energy on Sam but he dodged it. So it hit Rodney. That was last thing I saw. Rodney flying to the ground.

Veronica POV

I fell on the ground not knowing what to do or how to react. Nat rubbed my shoulder assuring. T'Challa took off his helmet and looked very angry at us.

"We're sorry" Nat said disappointed with our actions. We heard a heavy fall in our comms.

"Tony..what happened?" I asked worried. There was no answer the other end. That's bad. Something bad happened.

Rodney was going for a CT scanner. Me and Vision were watching him when Tony came in.

"How did this happen?" He asked Vision.

"I became distracted"

"I didn't think that was possible"

"Neither did I" Vision replied. I slowly made out my way and I could sense Tony following me.

We found Nat in our way with an equally concerned face. All of us walked towards the balcony.

"The doctors say he shattered L4 through S1. Extreme laceration in the spina cord. Probably looking at some form of paralysis" Tony said. Nat sighed.

"Steve's not gonna stop. If you don't either, Rodnry's gonna be the best case scenario" she tried.

"You both let them go"

"We played this wrong" Nat tried.

"We? Boy it must be hard to shake the whole double agent thing, huh? It stick in the DNA" Tony said looking at her. I didn't even look at them but could sense Nat glaring at him with anger.

"Are you incapable of letting ho of your ego for one goddamn second?" She spat. Tony didn't to bother.

"T'Challa told Ross what you did, so...they're coming for you" he said.

"I'm not the one that needs to watch their back" she swiftly walked out. I still didn't look at them.

I could feel Tony's eyes on me. He went yo talk when I cut him off.  "We did play this wrong. We should have never signed them" I turned and looked at him.

"T'Challa never said Ross about you" he said. That's odd. Why didn't he tell him? I mean I did try stopping Steve but he did go. I did let them go.

"I'll be in the compound. Call me if you need anything" I said. He nodded. I turned and walked when he stopped me.

"Ronnie" he called out softly. I turned and looked at him. "Sorry about Steve" he said. I don't know if I am gonna see him again. People are searching him to arrest him.

"I'll get through " I walked away.

I caught up with Nat. "So, underground again?" I asked. She stopped and looked at me.

"No other way"

"Take Care Nat" I said.

"You too Ronnie"

I was in the parking of the hospital. I unlocked my car and went yo get inside when somebody spoke up.

"I didn't say about you to Ross, because I think you owe an explanation to me" I heard him. It was the Wakandan Prince. Now King.

"There is nothing for me to explain. In could have stopped them. I didn't . You should have told to Ross" I said turning around. He stood there still in his suit.

"Out of all the Avengers out there, I am glad to inform you that you are then one I trust the most" he said. I looked up to him.

"Why?"

"Because I know whatever you do, you do it for a reason. You let them go because there must be a reason" he said. There was indeed one.

"Tony Stark is firing up a chopper" he said. "Come with me and prove that what you did was correct" he said.

"And if I'm wrong?"

"I'll kill Barnes at any cost. And also whoever tries to stop me from doing it" he warned. I knew he was talking about Steve.

I cannot surely say that Bucky didn't do that. He could have. T'Challa never took his eyes off me. Maybe I should do this.

We followed Tony and he landed on a Raftrison. Why is he is the Raft prison?

"You know why he is here?" T'Challa asked as he was The one who was flying the quinjet.

"No. But I might know someone who does" I said and took my phone out.

"Ms. Booth how can I help you? " FRIDAY asked. "FRIDAY what is Tony doing here?" I questioned.

"He is visiting Mr.Ross and The rest Avengers" she said. My eyes went wide.

"You mean the ones they arrested in the Airport?" I asked. "Yes..mam"

"They have them here?" I asked in disbelief. "Safety measures Ms. Booth" FRIDAY said.

"Do not tell Tony we are following him" I ordered and cut my phone off. "You sure she won't?" T'Challa asked.

"Her protocols follow my orders" I said and looked down at the floating Raft.

"They don't deserve to be here" I said.

We waited few minutes when Tony returned and took off his chopper. But we saw him flying off with his suit.

"He's going to Siberia" I whispered knowing it very well.
