Chapter 35

Steve POV

We landed our quinjet. I could see at the far end a building. The HYDRA base. He must be there.

Bucky took his weapon while I opened the ramp. He came and stood beside me.

"You remember that time we had to ride back from Rockaway Beach in the back of that freezer truck?" I asked him. He gave a quaint smile.

"Was that the time we used our train money to buy hot dogs?

"You blew three bucks trying to win that stuffed bear for a redhead" I said with a smirk.

"What was her name again?"

"Dolores. You called her Dot"

"She's gotta be a hundred years old right now" he said.

"So are we pal" I patted on his shoulder. We made our way towards the building.

"Wanted to tell you. Your girl.." He started.

"Ronnie" I said.

"She seems nice" he said. I smiled. Images of her rushing into my mind. "She is. The only person who kept me grounded. I am very..very lucky to have her" he smiled at me proudly.

We reached the base. The entrance was already open. Both of us looked worried.

"He can't have been here more than a few hours" I said.

"Long enough yo wake them up" Bucky added. We walked into the darkness. We rode down far into the underground. The air was becoming more and more cold.

The doors opened revealing a corridor with a line of bulbs. Bucky raised his weapon and leaded. I followed with my shield raised.

We descended down the steps and then there was a bang. Both of us became alert.

"You ready?

"Yeah"

I saw two dim lights and raised the shield when metal fingers pushed the elevator doors apart revealing Tony. He advanced towards us his helmet golfing back.
