Chapter 12

Veronica POV

We were on our way to the Triskelion. Sam and Steve were in front while me, Nat and Sitwell were on the back with Nat in between us.

"HYDRA doesn't like leaks" Sitwell said. "So why don't you try sticking a cork in it" Sam said.

"Insight's launching in sixteen hours, were cutting it a little bit close here" Nat said. "I know. We'll use him to bypass the DNA scans and access the Helicarriers directly" Steve said.

"What?! Are you crazy? That's a terrible terrible idea" he said. And then suddenly someone lands on our roof and pull Sitwell out throws him on the going traffic killing him instantly.

Gun shots struck the backseat. I created a field in front of us for the bullets. Sam glares at me. "Next time I'll make sure I put one for you too!" I said referring to the shield.

The person then starts to shoot at us. Steve pulls the break which makes the person to fall in front. The car behind us hits us and the person again jumps on our car.

He was fully covers in black and had a metal arm. He is the Winter Soldier.  The one who killed Fury. He smashes through the windscreen and pulls out the steering wheel.

"Is he nuts?" I said pulling my gun and getting out of the car. I rolled over on the street and once I stopped I sat up and shooted him continuously.

That's when I saw him having a launcher. He launched a grenade at me. I ran as far as I could and took cover behind a car. It exploded behind the car.

I stood up to see him launch another one at Steve which sent him flying across the bridge.  I saw him and three men firing their machine guns towards the Sam and Nat.

I sprinted towards them. Once I was near I gave my hand a swipe which made the other men thrown off their feet. I kicked the Winter soldier on his legs which made him to fall on his knees.

I went to punch him in his face when grasped my hand and squeezed it. I cried in pain. Still more he does, I am sure I will hear my bones crushing. I went with my other hand which he again caught with his other hand.

Power coursed through my hands and I slammed both my  hands together which created a wave of energy around us making him fall. He released both my hands.

He took his launcher immediately and I ran toward a car again and took covers. These cars are coming in handy. I peeked behind the car to see the soldier speak something in Russian and jump over the bridge.

And then two men followed the same. I ran towards the railing of the bridge to see them preparing to fire a overturned bus. Steve was inside. There were two more soldiers coming towards me. I saw Sam.

"Sam, can you cover me?" I shouted. "Yeah" he replied. They opened fire on the bus and powers rushed from my hand to form force field around it.

Steve charged out of the bus towards his shield and I jumped over the railing and landed down the bridge. I ran towards Steve.

"Thanks for the shield" he said. "Put that on the list" I said and looked up to see a man with a gun pointed on us. I used my powers to pull him down the bridge and crash on the ground with full force.

We saw another one. "Hey, I got this! Go!" Sam shouted tackling him.Me and Steve sprinted. We sprinted through the cars.

"Steve split up!" I shouted and we did. I saw Nat running and suddenly a bullet pierced her shoulder. I ran towards her when the Winter soldier tried to launch at her. Just when he was about to Steve hauled him from behind.

I used the time to treat Nat."Hey...you" she cut me off. "Do not ask that question. Do I look okay?" She asked. I saw her wound and found it deep.

"Nat that's deep. You need a medic" I said. "Go help Steve" she said. I looked at the launcher. I ran towards it,picked it and threw it towards Nat. Steve was fighting ith the guy in combat.
