*Tommy's POV*

So many people were crowding us, I'd only just realized I'd lost sight of Adam and the girls. What a great friend I am.

"ADAM? EL? AMBER?" I yelled, pushing through the crowd.

"Hey.. Hey, everybody out." A security guard pushed through the crowd of angry fans who were really putting up a fight.

And then there was Adam, passed out on the floor. Worrying me beyond belief. "Adam... Adam wake up.." I shook him until he opened his eyes slowly, nodding in reassurance. "Oh thank god. We're gonna miss our flight if you don't get your lazy butt up." I laughed, helping him stand.

"Lazy? Alright. Well played Ratliff." He half-limped across the airport to our gate, with Ellie and Amber at our heels.

*Adam's POV*

El started shaking nervously, as if she was having a panic attack. Tommy and Amber both stopped right as I did to make sure El was okay.

"I can't go on a plane. I hate planes. I can't do it. I can't." I nodded at Tommy and Amber, signaling for them to board the plane. We would meet them after I'd calmed Ellie down.

"Why not?" I asked calmly, kneeling down next to her shivering frame. "I do it all the time." She froze.

"She-she just... A plane... And she.. She's gone... And I can't.." I pulled her into a hug. "Who?"

"My sister.. She was in a plane crash.. I can't... No.."

"I promise nothing bad will happen, okay? We're sitting right next to each other on the plane, why don't you tell me the story there?" She looked at me like a mad man.

"Because that's the perfect story to calm me down on a plane." Good point. Maybe not such a good idea.

"Then we can just talk, okay? Trust me. You'll be just fine. We all will. Come on." She nodded, standing up and gripping onto my hand tightly as she reluctantly shuffled onto the plane. I let her take the window seat so she'd feel more safe.

Tommy and Amber were a few rows back, so it was just us and a vacant seat next to me. She started to calm down a little more, her breathing returned to normal. "Please distract me." She clung onto the seat desperately.

"I've been meaning to ask, how have you been doing?" I asked, hoping to not only calm her down but get vital information.

"What do you mean by that?" She shot back.

"I mean, how have you been doing?" I repeated, shooting her a look, communicating everything I was trying to say in just a glare.

"Maybe I should just try to sleep, hm? Good idea." Great, now there's obviously something she's not telling me. And I won't stop until I get it out of her.

"No, El. Tell me what's going on. Now." She rolled her eyes helplessly.

"What do you want to know?" She asked sarcastically.

"Whatever you're hiding." "Be more specific." Somebody's got an attitude today, damn. Fine, it'll take ten times as long. But if she wants specific, so be it. We'll just tackle every category I can possibly think of that could be wrong.

"Okay, school. What's going on at school?" I asked with a sigh.

"Learning."

"You know what? Lose the attitude. I'm over it. Done." I snapped. "Now please, because I care about you and have you in my best interests, tell me what's going on." My voice quieted a bit from the shout it began at.

"It's fine.. School is fine. There's going to be mean people everywhere you go. Nothing you or I can do."

"El."

"It's just a few girls okay? They just said some stuff. It's not even bad."

"What did they say?"

"They just.." Her voice quieted to a whisper, hoping I wouldn't catch her next comment. "They called me an emo slut. And they said that I should probably just kill myself because nobody wants me here anyways." Her voice rose again. "But please.. Don't make us switch schools again. Amber made a friend, they're happy together. Don't take that away. And don't separate us."

What am I supposed to do? I can't let this go on, but she obviously doesn't want to leave. Thank god for summer break, only a few more weeks.

"You didn't.. Take them seriously, did you?" I could feel my protective instinct just jumping out of my chest, the pure hatred to whoever was causing these girls pain. And I know it's not all rainbows and puppies for Amber, either, considering her breakdown this morning.

"I'm still alive, aren't I?" She said sarcastically.

"You know what I mean."

*Ellie's POV*

Of course I know what he means. He means cuts, physical scars that I've inflicted on myself to distract from the pain of life. And honestly, I don't get the big deal about it. It's what's been happening at school that's made me do it, so why is it the scars that are so terrible, when the real devil here is what's happening at school?

"No, I haven't cut, okay? I'm fine, I told you." Sure, I lied. Big deal. I'm not going to ruin a big trip to New York City just because of my personal 'issues'.

*Adam's POV*

I nodded just so she would relax a bit, let her lie to me again. I'll take care of it when we get back, but for now, this is our first vacation-ish thing as a group. A family. So we'll enjoy this while it lasts, and when we get back home I'll talk to El... Again. And this time I won't be so nice, because obviously nice didn't get me anywhere last time.

But for the time being, NEW YORK!
