I check my appearance one last time in the mirror before answering the door.

Carl stands at my doorstep, he looks nice. He's wearing light denim jeans which are fairly loose, and a burgundy t-shirt.

His eyes widen a bit and he smiles at me broadly.

"Wow. You look...Wow." He says and I feel my cheeks heat and I giggle awkwardly.

"Thanks." I say quietly and walk past him.

He has a black land rover, it reminds me a little of Harry's car but his is a different model.

Carl opens the door for me to get in, while I climb inside. The scent of the car is different to Harry's, the nostalgic smell of leather and tobacco has been covered by a seaside type smell which source hangs on the mirror.

It's a small dolphin, dark blue and slightly opaque.

I do up my seatbelt as Carl dittos.

"Let's roll." He says to me and I nod and laugh.

The car journey is full of conversation, we discus various things and I loose track of the amount of times he made me laugh.

He's charming, funny, sweet, caring... so why can't I get that one dark curly haired boy out of my brain?

Carl is such a great guy, and if things keep heading where they're heading, then maybe getting over Harry won't be as hard as I thought.

Although, it's hard to imagine myself without his permanent ache, reminding me of the vacancy in my heart which he left behind.

It's like a piece of me has been torn away, I want to get it back, I really do. And what Harry said to me in biology has really put things into prospective. Maybe I am being too over dramatic, but I'm just looking out for myself. I don't want to get hurt again and I know that will happen if I go out with Harry.

Is he really worth it?

I should try and push all of these thoughts to the back of my head, at least while I'm out with Carl.

"We're here." He smiles and parks the car in the car park. The sky is slightly darkened and the mall is lit up with signs and shop windows.

We enter the mall, the air getting hotter and thicker as we walk into the indoors.

We head up a lift and get out at the bowling alley.

"Lane booked for two under Marco, please." Carl gives the teenaged guy behind the counter a friendly smile and the nervous boy types something in on the computer behind the desk. Marco, Carl Marco.

He looks around sixteen and his skin is red and slightly blotchy with acne, when he smiled back at Carl I could see he also had braces. His hair is quite long and light brown, and he wears an orange cap on his head to match his dark and light orange stripy uniform.

"Ace, have fun." He smiles at Carl, who's smile drops.

I look at Carl, who quickly smiles broadly again and thanks the guy.

"Ace?" I ask him as we walk towards the shoe stand.

"Teenage slang for cool, god Skye catch up." Carl chuckles softly and I nudge him with my elbow.

"Well sorry I'm just not up to date with youths today." I giggle and he shakes his head.

"Your like a grandma in a students body." He laughs and I blush.

"I can be cool." I tell him with a smug smile.

"I'm sure you can." he says sarcastically, a cute smile playing on his lips.
