No Happy Ending

My baby!

"Pregnant?!" she's asking. Her body began to shake and breathing to become more rapid. Jessica grabbed the edge of the chair, looking at the doctor.

"Mrs. Huston, is everything okay?"

"I...I can't be preg...pregnant!" she's starting to cry.

"Mrs. Huston, calm down, please! Everything will be ok!"

"Can...can I use the bathroom?"

"Yes"

Jessica rises from the chair and walks slowly to the door. The doctor writes the results as the corner of his eye watching her, then he pulls out the other documents from the table, then heard something fell.

"Mrs. Huston!" he runs to her and picks her up, lays her on the bed. After a few seconds, nurses came running and he gave them an instruction.

"What's wrong?"one nurse asks.

"It's just a shock!" he's trying to wake her. Jessica slowly opens her eyes, blinking often to focus her eyes.

"Oh, Jessica, you scared us!"

"I..I'm fine!" she tries to gets up, but her body became heavy and she falls back.

"You don't have to get up yet, you just fainted" he sits down at the table, continuing write.

"Can...can I see?" Jessica asked trying to hold back tears.

"See what, Mrs. Huston?"

"My baby of course!" she raises her voice, but then calms down.

"Sure! But first, I'll check you"

The doctor puts the Doppler her stomach and they hear a strong little heartbeat. Jessica began to cry, putting her hand over mouth

"Well, Mrs. Huston, your baby's healthy and it looks like 10 weeks!" he smiles.

"10 week!?!"

"Yeah..." he turns the screen towards her and she smiles

"That's my baby! So small and so precious" she gets tears in her eyes.

"It's a picture of your baby!"
Jessica takes photo and smiling.

Jessica didn't want to go home until her emotions were back to normal. She stopped near the old Park and started to cry. All the emotions she held back, all the pain, just came out with tears.
Her phone started ringing and the display shows Alicia.
Jessica wiped the tears and tried to respond as if nothing happened.

"Mom, where are you?"

"I...I had to get to work, but I'm on my way home!" she speaks with her eyes closed and trying to hold back tears.

"Are you okay?"

"Yes, see you later"

She puts the phone in her purse while she pulls out the baby's picture. A smile appears on her face and she puts a hand on her stomach. Someone knocks on the window, Jessica jumps up and closes the photo, looking out the window.

"Sam?!" she opens a window

"Hi! What are you doing here all alone?" he smiles.

"Em...I just decided to take a little ride around the neighborhood! What are you doing here?"

"I walked here and saw a familiar car!"

"Get in the car"

"Sam, I'm sorry I was horrible then!"

"Oh, it's okay!....Jess, would you like to go out with me tonight??" he looks at her.
Jessica doesn't say anything, just looks at the road, Sam keeps staring at her.

"Jess?"

"I'm sorry, I can't...my sister's having a big dinner tonight" she nervously giggles, holding tight the steering wheel

"Okay" Sam replies sadly and turns his head to the window

After that, the car was quiet and when Jessica stopped at a red light, Sam grabbed her wrist, pulled her to him and kissed her passionately.....
