Give me a chance

When they arrived at the restaurant, they ordered their own food and started talking until Abby noticed Danny

"Mommy, look it's daddy! It's daddy!"

"What's he doing here?" Alicia turns to look at him.

"Dad!"Leo jumps out of his chair and runs to him.

"Leo, wait!" Jessica's following him.

Leo hugs Danny's arm, surprising him.

"Leo?! What are you doing here, buddy?" he sits him on his lap

"Hi, Daniel" Jessica approaches them.

"Hey, what are you doing here?"

"Alicia and John are here today!" she walks away and they wave at him.

"Why didn't they tell me they were coming today?"

"They surprised us! Are you here alone?"

"Em..no!" he smiles nervously

"Then, Leo, let's go, we won't disturb dad!" she picks him up

"Mom!"

"Jess, I'm just waiting for a work partner!"

"Danny, you don't have to explain!" she giggles and she with Leo go to they table.

"Well, dad has a business meeting!" Jessica sits down.

"Should I tell him today?" Alicia asks.

"Maybe a little later!"

At the end of their dinner, Danny finally approached them and they allowed him to sit with them

"Dad, John proposed to me!"Alicia says, looking at him.

Danny didn't expect this and was silent.

"I know I didn't ask for your blessing, but I just couldn't wait to propose to Alicia!"

"I certainly did not expect this, but I'm happy for you! And if you had asked me for my blessing, I would have said Yes! I see how Alicia's eyes sparkle when she's around you, and that's the most important thing to me. You make my  daughter happy!

Alicia smiles and puts her head on John's shoulder.

Three weeks later.

"Mom, I hope you did not forget that we are going today for my dress and we need to choose a dress for you and Vivian" Alicia says

"Do you think I'm so old that I forgot about this?" Jessica holds the phone to her ear with her shoulder

"You're not old, I'm just remind you! I'll pick you up at 6! I have to go, bye"

Jessica did not have time to answer, as Alicia hung up

"Ugh, this girl! Where the hell are those documents !?" Jessica throws all the folders on the table, trying to find the right one.

A knock at the door distracts her and Sam enters the office

"Hey, Jess, how are you? Are you looking for something?"

"No, I just decided to clean up!" She answers irritably.

"Sorry," she closes her eyes, taking a deep breath.

"It's okay, it's lunch time and I'm going to a cafe .... em want to join me? I think you need to get some rest from work"

"Um ... yes, okay!" She smiles

"Well, how does the preparation for the wedding go?" Sam asks, taking a sip of his hot coffee

"Very good! Today we are going to take Alicia's dress .... she is so excited" Jessica smiles, leading her finger around the mug, and Sam smiles back. Silence hung between them for a few minutes and finally Sam first started talking

"Jess, I've been wanting to tell you something...." he speaks nervously

"What is it?" she puts the mug on the table

Sam reaches for her hand and Jessica is surprised when he puts his hand on hers

"Jessica, remember that night I said I would fight for you, but I didn't keep my word, I gave up when you went back to Danny and you had triplets and I hate myself for it! I should have won your heart back then, but if I didn't make it then, I want to try now! I like you and every day my feelings for you become stronger, I ask you to give me a chance!"Sam says, looking into her eyes, gently stroking her hand.

Jessica looks at him without blinking, then looks at their hands and then back at Sam.

"I'm giving you a chance, Sam! I really like you!"

Sam smiles wildly, then takes her hand as he brings it to his lips and kisses, and Jessica giggles as her cheeks turn pink.

"Have dinner with me on Saturday!"

"Hmm, Mr. Shepard, I so understand this was not a question!" Jessica winks, smiling. 

"No, I'm just saying you have dinner with me on Saturday and I'll pick you up at 6!" Sam make a serious face, what makes Jessica laugh.

"Okay, I'll have dinner with you!" Jessica says in a funny voice and Sam kisses her hand again.
