The next day

Jessica went to the hospital and saw the nurses and doctors come into Agnes's room

When Jessica ran in she saw her girl lying on the bed so weak and so small

"Agnes!" Jessica pushed the doctors as she fell beside her daughter's bed, putting her hands on her cheeks.

"Ma'am!"

"Agnes, mommy's here, it's gonna be okay!"

"Ma'am, you need to move!" the nurse told her

"I'm her mother, don't tell me what to do!" she yelled

"Jess, they have to do their job, come here!" Danny took her away from Agnes

"What is wrong, Danny? What is wrong with my girl?" she cried

"I don't know! But she'll be fine!" Danny hugged Jessica and never took his eyes from his little daughter

The doctors tried to do their best to wake Agnes up and after a few hours she finally opened her eyes. Jessica was by her side, as she spoke to her and prayed for her daughter. Agnes was so weak and it was difficult for her to keep her eyes open or speak, but Jessica kept talking to her and told her that everything would be all right

"I shouldn't have left, Danny!" Jessica whispered as her eyes filled with tears

"It's my fault I had to be with her!"

"Jessie, it's not your fault, don't blame yourself! She's gonna be okay, you know that!"

Jessica kissed Agnes's hand, then kissed her forehead.

"I love you, my little girl!"

"You're a strong girl, Agnes!I love you" Danny kissed her hand.

That night Jessica slept next to Agnes, as always, and Danny slept on the couch. Jessica just lay and looked at Agnes, listening to her quiet breathing. She didn't stop praying because Agnes didn't deserve what she was going through.

About 6 am Jessica woke up, she kissed Agnes on the top of her head, as at this moment her heart seemed to stop. Agnes was not breathing. Jessica immediately began to cry as she tried to get Agnes to open her eyes

"No! Agnes! Please open your eyes for mommy! Please!" tears rolled down her cheeks.

Her screams woke Danny up and he realized what was happening, so he called the doctor and hugged Jessica as they watched the doctors try to save their daughter's life.

Agnes didn't wake up, so the nurse turned to them and said

"I'm so sorry"

Jessica fell to the floor as she began to sob loudly. Her heart broke into little pieces.
