~ringmaster~

millie found her way back to mr.heaton's class shortly after that. she walked through the door - literally through the door- and took her seat in the back of the classroom, where she used to sit when he was alive.

millie's eyes traced the classroom until her eyes fell upon another empty seat, whose absence seemed to leave a vacant feeling in the room. sadie was a particularly intelligent girl, especially regarding literature; mr.heaton loved when sadie would raise her hand because she was a whole new depth to the book that most students wouldn't understand.

and her seat was empty.

after she attacked finn this morning, millie didn't think she would return to class. whenever sadie's anger flourished, everybody knew. you could see it from thousands of miles away/

but suddenly, amidst mr.heaton's talk about capitalism vs. communism (despite the fact that it was irrelevant to the book they were reading), the redhead burst in.

she smiled at the teacher, who had paused to look at her, and rushed to her seat, which was next to millie, without saying a word. mr.heaton didn't say anything, just continued his rant.

sadie took out her english notebook and flipped through the pages until she landed on a blank one. then she began scribbling.

then sadie carefully tore it out of her notebook and placed it on the desk in front of millie. millie's eyes widened, as she read the note.

millie~

meet me in the bathroom.

millie smiled, letting out a breath, she bit her lip and glanced at sadie, looking at her delicate hands, where a small silver ring clung to her finger.

then sadie glanced towards her, meeting her eyes.

and winked.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"okay, i know what you're gonna say-" sadie started, closing the bathroom door.
but before sadie could finish, she wrapped her arms around sadie tightly, millie's arms thrown over sadie's shoulders, as she buried her face in sadie's shoulder.
"woah, millie-"
millie sobbed, "finn tried to kill himself"
sadie pulled millie away, "wait, what?"
millie nodded, tears trailing down her cheeks as she let out another sob, "i-i-i couldn't stop it. but then- i guess you put on the ring. and i could save him. i just- thank you,"
sadie sent her a sad smile, "millie. for the otiher day.......'m just.....so sorry. i honestly don't know what the fuck i was thinking when i blamed you -,"
"sadie, it's fine," millie giggled, "but please don't ever take that ring off again, okay?"
sadie nodded, "okay,"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

sadie and millie met just like any other best friends met: at school. it was awkward because it was like, 4th grade, so nobody really knew that they were doing. and on the first day of school, mrs.buono had put them on the same soccer team. sadie was the goalie.

millie was on defense.

during the game, some kid on the other team that hated sadie, kicked the ball straight onto her face. her nose was bleeding and she was crying. the entire class had stopped to look at the crying girl.

millie knew the kid meant to do it; why? she didn't care.

so millie kicked him in the nuts and took sadie to the nurse.

"he's so freaking mean all the time," sadie said, trying to wipe at her nose as millie accompanied her to the nurse, "thanks for doing that by the way. it was really frickin' cool of you. i'm sadie. by the way,"

"millie. millie bobby brown," millie said, "come over to my house later today. we can plan our round two revenge,"

sadie laughed then, "definitely,"

sorry this took so long & i know it's super duper short; i published all my prewritten chaps so i gotta actually start writing now. also, school's a bitch.
