~impromptu~

millie ran out shortly after that.

but she had this weird feeling in her stomach that kind of frightened her, but at the same time she wanted to embrace it.

finn knows. he knows for sure. he knows she's there.

there was this secret longing for being with him that she tried to convince herself to ignore. and every one and while, she wondered if she should accept it.

but then she'd shut herself down, knowing it was wrong. wrong for finn. finn couldn't....live his life like that.

she didn't want to think about it. she didn't want to think about his smile or his charming, caring embrace he always greeted her with. she didn't want to think of how he lacked those things now because she was gone.

millie passed ava on her way to charlie's room.

thinking about charlie's secret life was stressing her out. but seeing ava kind of calmed her down; gave her hope, even. she was coloring a disney princess coloring book on the coffee table in front of some netflix cartoons.

millie watched as she focused on the sheet, careful not to color outside the lines. millie smiled and sat next to ava, watching her color.

millie used to like to color with her. sometimes, ava would color outside the lines and get frustrated. so millie would ruin her own picture.

ava would giggle because it was ridiculous how bad her picture was, but it made ava feel better about her coloring skills.

drawing her attention away from ava, millie began to hear words through the living room walls. she heard her parents talking on the kitchen.

" i don't know, dont we want to find who's responsible for-" millie's mom said, but she then started to whisper, "for our daughters death?"

millie stood up and walked towards the kitchen.

"why are you whispering?" millie's dad asked.

"because it fucking hurts me to say it, okay?" millie's mom said, " i can't get used to the fact that i'm going to have to talk about her in past tense and that i won't be able to see her go to college or get married or- or.....watch her become a mother,"

millie's father bit his lip.

"millie wouldn't have kept that baby if she knew it was there," millie dad said sternly, quietly, getting close to his wife's face.

millie's mom had tears trickling down her face, as she wiped them away, "i don't know.......i'd rather her be here with a baby than be gone,"

millie's dad sighed, then walked towards the cabinet, pulling out some tea bags, changing the subject back to the investigation, "i think charlie's right on this one. we're going to bleed ourselves dry paying these guys. let's just call it off. there's not much we can do even if we find the guy,"

millie leaned against the doorframe, keeping her eyes on her parents.

millie's mom bit her lip, remnants of her tears still present, "okay. i'll call him. i just....wanted to know. why. why somebody would.....murder our little girl," millie mom suddenly giggled upon her memory, "our silly millie,"
