Chapter Four

After a little while of moping around, Liam finally became optimistic and took control of the situation.  "Listen, we need to find shelter.  Based on our walk into the woods earlier and our massive search party for somebody, I've come to the conclusion that there aren't any cities, much less people, nearby.  There isn't much shelter by the lake and I don't really like the thought of drinking water that has dead people in it.  There must be other water sources nearby."

"That makes sense," I said glumly.

I didn't feel like my usual self.  Being around people, especially strangers, really increased my bubbly personality.  Now I felt like a deflated balloon.  I guess being in a plane crash can really alter your mood.

Liam nodded to me, and his eyes flickered to every person standing around him as he spoke.  "And if anyone disappears again, they can find us by themselves.  I don't care how badly you feel like running around naked."

"Hey!  That's not fair!" Harry protested.  His British accent was just starting to process in my mind.  Wow, I must really be out of it.  I mean, who'd miss that?

"Yeah, it's really not fair, Liam," agreed Louis.  "A guys gotta do what a guys gotta do, man."

Liam rolled his eyes and started to head towards the surrounding forest, once again leading the way.  "Then you two can have a naked party by yourselves."

"Well, maybe we will," Harry grumbled.

But Harry and Louis still followed after Liam.  I guess the temptation of running around a forest naked wasn't great enough compared to getting lost and left behind.

I ended up walking by Niall, while Ben kept listening to Zayn and Liam's conversation and acting as if he was their best friend.  Oh why do I have to be related to him?  Sienna seemed to be lost in her own little world, thinking about who knows what.  Harry and Louis were having a deep conversation about the world's record of being naked the longest, and they couldn't seem to figure out why there wasn't a record for it.  Wow.  Why couldn't I have been lost in the wilderness with a more normal famous boy band?

"Are Harry and Louis always like this?" I asked Niall out of pure curiosity.  I wasn't sure if I should be trying to contact a therapist, even though my phone's broken from swimming with it in the lake, or if this was just normal behavior from them.

Niall shook his head.  "No.  Usually they're much worse than this."

Oh.  Well, hopefully we find a way out of the wilderness before I have to ever see that.  That'd be horrifying.

"Well, now I am officially worried."

Niall laughed, but even though the only thing I really know about him is his name, I could tell his laugh was different than it usually is.  "Aren't we all?"

Niall and I didn't say anything else, but the silence between us wasn't awkward.  It was more calming, relaxing.  I was starting to daydream about my amazing vacation in London, and before I knew it, I walked right into somebody.

"Ow," I mumbled, rubbing my forehead.  A scowl formed on my face when I realized it was Ben.  "Hey!"

Whipping around, Ben glared at me evilly.  Lets just say that look doesn't suit him very well.  It looks more like a demented eye twitch.

"Watch where you're going, Adriana!" Ben spat out.

I would have started to argue, but I noticed everyone was watching me with wide, judging eyes.

"What?  Mind your own business, people.  There's nothing to see here!" I said to everyone staring at me.

Everyone quickly looked away, besides Zayn, who just shook his head like I was insane.

"Okay, enough with this sibling rivalry," Liam said, once again taking control.  Hmm, I wonder if he was one of those weird control freaks.  "I think this clearing will do as our camp.  It's surrounded by trees and there's a river nearby.  It's also pretty close to the lake, so if rescuers come we won't be too far away."

"Fine by me," Zayn replied, striding into the clearing.

Liam followed after Zayn, not bothering to wait and listen to the other's input.

Once again, Liam took charge, and he sent everyone out in search of firewood.

"But I don't like forests!" Ben complained.

Is it possible for an eighteen year old to have the mind of a four year old?  It really makes me wonder . . . .

"Well too bad!" I said, patting Ben's shoulder as I walked past him.

I admit, I'm not a big fan of gathering firewood either, but right now it's necessary.

* * *

Later that night, my eyes fluttered open, met by the night's darkness.  Stars twinkled in the distance, forming constellations that I just don't understand.  I heard voices talking nearby, and I rolled onto my side.  Sitting around the campfire was all of One Direction and Sienna.  Ben was nowhere in sight, but honestly, who really cares about Ben's whereabouts?

Struggling to get to my feet, I trudged over to the campfire and sat down by Harry, which is probably a mistake, but I was just too tired to care. I'd go back to sleep in a little bit anyway.

"You guys are having a meeting and I wasn't invited," I mumbled as I rubbed my eyes.

"It's not exactly a meeting," Niall explained.  His Irish accent made me have to think harder about what he said.  It wasn't that I don't understand Irish accents, I just don't understand anybody very well when I'm half asleep.  "We're just talking."

"About what?" I asked.

"The accident," Liam replied for Niall.  His gaze was fixed on the fire in front of us.

I didn't say anything else.  That was enough for me to hear.  I'd rather not talk about the accident.  It reminded me of the dead passengers who I had sat close to.  The thought of it brought countless images to my mind that I'd much rather forget.  Lots of unanswered questions rang through my head like multiple conversations in a cafeteria.  Why was it that I survived when about everyone else didn't?  How long until help arrives?  Are we going to die out here?

Finally, someone broke the silence, but after it was broken I wished it hadn't been.

"Lads," Niall began anxiously, "even if the plane is found, people won't know that's the plane One Direction boarded.  No one knows which plane we took.  To the rest of the world, we're missing without much hints of where we're at.  Our concerts will be canceled!  We could seriously be here for a while."

Suddenly, the weeds near the campfire rustled and Ben sprang out of them.  A wild, crazy look was on his face.  "Oh no!  Not the concerts!"

I face palmed myself. Oh, Ben . . . .

A/N: Hey, it's Leah again!  First off, I want to give a massive thank you to everyone that's read, voted, or commented on The Wrong Direction.  I swear, whenever I see a comment on here I get really excited and I'll point it out to Stephanie, and I'm pretty sure she's thinking, Calm down, Leah.  It's just a comment.  No need to go insane.  Well, I guess it's too late for that, because I'm pretty convinced I was already insane before we posted this.

Anyways, thanks so much to everybody reading this!  You're really amaZAYN people ;) (as if you didn't already know that).

Also, if you're ever bored and you have a friend who also loves One Direction, you should really consider disguising yourselves as Louis and Harry and run around acting like them in public.  Trust me, it's REALLY fun (and yes, I speak from experience).  Seriously, me and Stephanie did that (I was Harry and she was Louis).  You'd be surprised how many strange looks you get when you walk into a pet store . . . .

Well, that's all I have to say, so goodbye for now, and once again thank you for reading!! :D
