Chapter 22

Once we arrived, we all headed out of our cars and began to walk over to The CDC with our bags in hand. Hoping that this would be the new place we'd stay in. Looking at this place, it looked a mess. Dead bodies were everywhere. We all began to cover our noses from the smell as we continued to walk on.

"Quiet. We got to stay moving, keep quiet. Let's go," Shane said.

We continued to walk along as Rick said...

"Stay together and keep moving," Rick said.

We kept on moving past the bodies until we finally reached the entrance. It smelled a lot worse up here but at least we could try and get inside the building. Once we reached the shutters, Rick and Shane began to bang on it, trying to get it open but no luck.

"There's nobody here," T-Dog said.

"Then why are the shutters down?" Rick asked.

"Walkers!" Daryl shouted, alerting the rest of us.

I began to hear Carl and Sophia cry in fear as Daryl and I began to shoot them down. After a group of them came towards us, I instantly got my boomerang out and threw it at them, killing the group as the blade sliced their heads off before it came back into my hand. Daryl stood in shock before saying...

"Man, I've got to get myself one of those," Daryl said.

"I've got a few of them. I'll give you one," I said.

After saying this, Daryl began to say...

"We've got to go! This is a god damn graveyard!" Daryl shouted.

"Shut up. Just shut up," Shane said.

Shane then walked over to Rick and said...

"Rick this is a dead end," Shane said.

"Where are we going to go?" Carol asked.

"Do you hear me?" Shane asked.

"Rick, we've got to go. There's nobody here," I said.

"Shane and Skye are right, we can't be this close to the city after dark," Lori said.

"Fort Benning, Rick. It's still an option," Shane said.

"On what? No food, no fuel, it's a hundred miles," Andrea said.

"A hundred and twenty five, I studied the map," Glenn said.

"Forget Fort Benning, we need answers tonight, now," Lori said.

"We'll think of something," Rick said.

"Come on, let's go," Shane said.

"Let's get out of here," T-Dog said as we began to leave.

As we began to walk away, Rick stayed before saying...

"The camera, it moved," Rick said, causing us to stop moving.

"You imagined it," Dale said.

"It moved," Rick said as he walked towards it.

"You're seeing things," I said.

"It moved," Rick said.

Shane then rushed up to Rick and said...

"It moves every ten minutes, it works by it's self. Rick, just listen to me, okay? This place is dead. It's dead," Shane said.

Rick then began to bang on the shutters.

"There's nobody here!" Lori yelled.

"I know you're in there. I know you can hear me. Please, we're desperate. Please help us, we have women and children, no food, hardly any gas left," Rick explained.

"Come on Rick," Lori said, trying to move him.

However, despite her saying this, Rick continued to stay where he was.

"We've got nowhere else to go! Please!" Rick shouted.

Shane then began to take him away as Rick shouted...

"You're killing us! You're killing us!" Rick shouted.

All of a sudden, a bright light appeared as the shutters opened. We all stood there in shock as it opened, giving us all hope. Once it did this, we all began to walk through the opening and into the building. As we entered the room, we all began to look at the empty building surrounding us.

"Hello?" Rick called.

"Close those doors," Dale said.

"Watch for walkers," Jacqui said.

"Hello?" Rick called.

All of someone appeared with a gun in his hand, causing all of us to point our weapons at him.

"Anybody infected?" the man asked.

"One of our group was. He didn't make it," Rick answered.

"Why are you here?, and what do you want?" he asked.

"A chance," Rick answered.

"That's asking an awful lot these days," he said.

"I know," Rick said.

"You all submit to blood test, that's the price of admission," he said.

"We can do that," Rick said.

The man then lowered his gun before saying...

"You've stuff to bring in you do it now, once this door closes, it stays closed," he said.

Once he said this, we all began bringing our stuff before he closed the door.

"Vi, seal the main entrance. Put the power up here," he said.

"Rick Grimes," Rick said, introducing himself to the man.

"Doctor Edwin Jenner," he said.

After introducing ourselves, we all began grabbing our stuff before heading in the elevator...
