Lori's Missing

Chapter 47

Once I reached the house, I saw Jason sitting on the porch. He looked just like I did... terrible. I instantly sat down beside him before he said...

"I know about dad. I know what he did to you. I think I've always known. Some part of me always knew that something wasn't right about dad. I guess I just didn't want to admit it. Caroline knew too. But, when we finally figured it out, it was too late. You were gone," Jason said.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I just wanted to not be some damaged sister to you and Caroline. I wanted your life to be amazing although I think I failed there," I said.

"Hey you didn't fail us. Mum should have done it. She should have stepped up but she didn't and that's something that we have to live with," Jason said.

"I guess so," I agreed.

"I'm sorry he hurt you," Jason said.

"Thank you brother," I said.

After a moment of silence, I finally said...

"Jason?" I questioned.

"Yeah?" Jason questioned.

"No more birthdays. Promise me that brother, because now my birthday has a new meaning. My birthday is the day my sister died. So promise me Jason. Promise me no more birthdays," I said.

"I promise," Jason said.

All of a sudden, Glenn rushed out of the door and said...

"Skye, come quick. It's Beth," Glenn said.

I immediately got up and rushed inside the house and following Glenn up the stairs to Beth's room. Once I entered, I saw Maggie sitting at Beth's side while she laid there on the bed, not saying a word.

"What happened to her?" I asked.

"She was doing the dishes and the next thing I know, she just collapsed," Maggie said.

Beth eyes were wide open with occasional blinking but she wasn't moving and didn't seem to know that we were even here.

"Where's Hershel?" I asked.

"Glenn and Rick went to get him. He's at the pub," Maggie answered.

I sighed before I began to check on Beth, putting my hand over her head and felt how warm she was.

"Okay, we need some water and towels. We need to keep her hydrated," I said.

Maggie nodded before going to get water and towels. Moments later she returned with Patricia and began helping to cool Beth down. I did the same, keeping her body hydrated as I knew that she wasn't going to be wake up any time soon. After some time of doing this, Patricia and Maggie left to help with dinner while I stayed with Beth. I didn't want to leave her because after losing Caroline, I couldn't handle losing another sister. I wasn't going to lose another sister. Not Beth, not today.

Just then, I heard a knock at the door and instantly turned to see Carol standing in the doorway.

"Dinner's ready," Carol said.

"I'm not hungry," I said.

"You've got to eat Skye," Carol said.

"I can't leave her. Not the way she is," I said.

"Listen, I know you're in a lot of pain. I lost my daughter and you lost your sister. But I promise you that Beth isn't going anywhere. Just come down and eat something, you'll feel better once you've got something in your stomach," Carol said.

I nodded before getting up and slowly exiting the room. As I did this, I noticed that mostly everyone was sat around the table eating away before they spotted me. After they did, everyone stopped eating and Alicia rushed into my arms and began hugging me for a moment. After a long moment of this, we let go and I sat down with her. I then began eating away, allowing everyone else to do the same before Carol walked over to the stairs and said...

"Lori, dinner," Carol said.

"She's not up there," Maggie said.

"Where is she?" Dale asked.

Nobody answered because nobody knew.

"Carl, when was the last time you saw your mum?" Shane asked.

"This afternoon," Carl answered.

"She was worried about Rick, asked me to check in on Carl," Andrea said.

"She went after him?" Dale questioned.

"She didn't say that," Andrea said.

"Nobody panic," Shane said before getting up.

We then all did the same.

"She's gonna be around here somewhere," Shane said.

Once we were up,  we all began to head outside, searching all over for Lori before Carol went to go see Daryl to tell him about Lori. However, after some time of looking, we didn't find her.

"She's not at the barn," Shane said.

"I checked the yards," T-Dog said.

"Well where is she?" Carl asked.

"She asked Daryl to go into town," Carol said as she reached us.

"She what?" I questioned.

"Yeah, she asked him but she must have gone herself," Carol said.

Carl then began to look upset before running off. As he did this, I headed off over to mine and Daryl's tent to talk with Daryl. After getting there, I saw he had made a fire and was sitting down by it before I said...

"Hey," I said.

"Hey. How are you feeling?" Daryl asked.

"I'm doing alright. You?" I asked.

"I'm fine," Daryl answered but I knew he was lying.

"You knew where Lori was?" I questioned as I sat down beside him.

"No, though now I do, and I didn't go because I didn't need to. I am done being the help around here," Daryl said.

"Daryl, I know you're hurting but-" I said before Daryl cut me off.

"I'm fine," Daryl snapped as he arose to his feet and began to walk away.

"No you're not. You need to talk to me. You need to let me in," I said as I got up and followed him.

"And who says I do?" Daryl yelled.

"I do. Tell me what you're feeling!" I yelled back.

I then watched as he stopped and turned around to me before saying...

"What I feel is pain and I can't do it, not anymore!" Daryl yelled back with tears in his eyes.

I then watched as he broke down in tears before I began to comfort him. I began to hold him close as he cried. This continued for a long while before I let go of him and looked at him in the eyes.

"Hey, you can. We both can," I said as I held his face with my hands.

I then began to stroke his cheeks for a while before he kissed me passionately. I then kissed back before we walked over at a tree, not breaking the kiss between us. As we reached the tree, my feet were lifted off the floor and I instantly wrapped them around his waist before my back slammed against the tree. After doing this, we both began to pull each other's clothing off while continuing to kiss each other. Our lips never left each other's body the whole time...
