Chapter 30

Aurelia...
I watched him run out of the room in shock. My head was spinning and my heart was racing.
Queen? Marriage?
It was all so sudden, and nothing I expected.
"Did you know? This whole time?" I asked Harry in a soft, almost hurt whisper.
He looked down sadly, avoiding my eyes, but said nothing. That was enough of an answer for me though. "How could you not warn us? Warn me?" I accused him, still sounding hurt. "All you said was magic, and Princess, and told us that we were supposed to defeat some evil. You never said anything about having to rule an entire two Kingdoms!" I stood up, getting progressively louder.
"I am sorry, My Princess."
I just shook my head at him. "Does Grandma know, too?"
"Yes." He frowned.
I let out a puff of air, upset that my Grandmother left all of this out. "I'm going to find Alex. No one come after us." I commanded, using my anger and hurt to sound authoritative.
I didn't spare anyone a second glance as I tightened my grip on the blanket, and ran out the door. I had seen Alex turn right, so I went that way, but other than that, I had no idea where I was going.
I bumped into a few guards, and they pointed in the direction their Prince went.
I understood Alex's apprehensiveness towards being King, but his reaction to the word marriage worried me a little bit.
Did he not want to marry me? I know we're young, and have only been together a little over a year, but was he that spooked by the idea of being with me like that?
I shook out the thoughts, not allowing myself to dwell on them, as I made it to a set of double doors that led outside.
I had no idea where they would lead me to, or what was outside, but something in me told me to go out there.
The first thing I noticed was how it was a few degrees colder out here. I could see the beautiful mountains in the high distance, and it was snowing. The ground was covered in soft snow, and it looked to be a patio area that was enclosed by snow covered evergreen trees. I followed to where I saw an opening, and saw that it led to a path.
I was nervous to step foot on the path, because it looked to be covered in ice. When I stepped on it, and didn't slip, I was relieved it was covered in the same magic they had in the castle to take away the slipperiness of it.
"Alex?" I called out, running down the path, past many more trees and ice sculptures.
I was about to call out again, when I halted in my tracks. I had come across a small enclosed area, that was the equivalent to my garden back home. Instead of being surrounded by flowers, there were the most beautiful trees, covered in ice figures, almost to resemble ornaments on a Christmas tree. There were strings of ice, with hanging icicles and lights, going over the top of the area. The lights were glowing blue orbs of magic. The small area was mystical and spectacular.
My eyes quickly found Alex, who was hunched in the center of the wintery garden. I was surprised to see the snow was significantly falling heavier around him, almost as if his emotions were controlling it. I reached out my hand to catch the swirling snow, astonished at how much it made my skin tingle.
