Chapter 60

Alex...
It felt like we were stuck listening to the roar of the snow for hours. However, only a few measly minutes passed before all was calm again.
Well...calmer.
It would've been completely silent if it wasn't for Nixie's panicked screaming, and Phoenix trying to calm her down.
I slowly opened my eyes, seeing nothing but pitch black all around me. Not knowing how deep under the snow I was frightened me, and I was connected to the substance. I could only imagine how the others felt that didn't hold the power of the cold.
"Will? William!" My voice leaked with panic, as my own shouts mixed in with everyone else. "Help me!"
"My Prince, 'tis alright." I heard his voice muffled above me.
"Get me out of here!" I felt my claustrophobia creeping up and suffocating me. It was temporarily paralyzing me and causing me to forget how to use my magic.
In seconds, light poured into my vision and I took a giant gulp of fresh air. My breathing came in heavy gasps as I shot up, still in the form of solid ice.
"'Tis alright, My Prince. It is over." He soothed while looking down at me.
"N-no, it's not. Aurelia, she's out there somewhere." My voice was choked and choppy as it came out.
"We will find her. Just breathe and allow your normal form to take over."
I tried evening out my breath, and before I knew it, I was back to my normal flesh and bones.
Once he was satisfied with my well being for the moment, he left my line of sight to release the remainder of our group.
As he melted the snow and ice they were trapped under, I took a moment to survey my surroundings. I stumbled back in surprise to see I was face to face with a wall of snow. It was as tall as me, and I spun around to find I was inside a square ditch that was as tall as I was.
Standing up on my tip toes, I could see Fredric making his way towards me. He reached in, gripping my fore arms, and pulled me out of the hole.
Once I was on the top of the snow, I saw that the mountain looked normal, as if a giant avalanche didn't just leave a person height layer of snow.
Taking a few steps forward, I sunk into my mid-calves, just as I would while normally walking through snow. It made me wonder just how far buried the actual mountain is.
"That was horrifying and I never wanna experience that ever again." Nixie seethed through chattering teeth, pulling a blanket around herself.
"It's freezing." Phoenix shivered, taking a few moments longer than usual to ignite in flames.
"There's no time to waste! We need to look for her." My voice came out as frazzled as I felt. The stakes have just raised. Now we had to dig around in the snow for her, on top of searching every inch of this God forsaken mountain.
"We should start searching the surrounding area. Maybe the avalanche brought her down to us." Joseph suggested.
"Whatever we do, we have to act fast. If she is buried in this snow, she will be dead in hours." Harry's words were like knives in every inch of my body. I know he was right, and it was devastating.
The only positive thing is that the storm seemed to have let up. It was still snowing decently heavy, but the wind stopped for the most part, and it was much more calm. It would make it easier to maneuver around during our search.
