Chapter 37

Alex...

So, it turns out running through a crowded city, dressed in ice, and carrying a drugged up mortal, was no easy task.

"Come on, faster! We need to get out of here." I urged Aurelia to jog faster so we could be out of the prying eyes of the public.

"Easy for you to say." She muttered. "At least you don't have a long ball gown on." She complained at the exact moment she stumbled forward.

"We don't have time to worry about how we should have changed." I grabbed the bottom of her dress, bunching it up into my free hand.

We rounded a corner, and Aurelia slammed into a young woman in a light blue sundress, that looked to be our age. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" She apologized quickly, stepping around the girl so we could make a quick escape.

"Wait!" I heard the girl shout behind us.

"Don't turn around." I whispered to my nervous girlfriend.

"Aurelia, wait!"

She immediately froze, causing me to slam into her back. She whipped around in shock, and by the way her face twisted, I could tell she had never seen the girl in her life.

Immediately feeling defensive, I stood in front of her, blocking her even more with Evan's body. "Who are you and how do you know her?" I seethed at the girl.

"You must be-" She took a step and I instantly cut her off with a snarl.

"Don't you dare come any closer."

"Interesting." She smiled. Whether it was friendly or sinister, I couldn't tell. "I never heard of the Prince of Winter having an attitude."

"Excuse me?" I was angry now. This strange girl clearly knew my girlfriend, seemed to know about me and my Kingdom, and we still had all these problems with Evan. It was all hitting me and this girl just started the crossfire. "Who the hell are you?!" I spat at her.

"If you would just calm down and be rational, please." She cautiously glanced around. "Come on, we can't do this here."

"Like hell we can't. We're leaving."

Aurelia's hands tightened around my bicep as we turned around to run away. We didn't make it very far before I felt something snake around my ankle. I looked down to see a clear shackle of some sort, around my leg.

"Is that....water?" Aurelia questioned.

"Princess Nixie of the 7th Kingdom. Nice to make your acquaintance."

Aurelia and I both yelped, lifting our heads to see the girl now standing a foot in front of us.

"Now please, if you'll come with me."

She started walking into an alley and I gave Aurelia a cautious look. "I don't trust her."

"She's clearly one of us. Maybe she's on our side." Aurelia argued.

"She knows us both, but we don't have a clue who she is. I don't like those odds."

"She just told us who she is." She shot back, smartly.

"So? She could be lying or-"

"Your Highnesses, please. We don't have all day. You have a human to tend to." We heard her voice echo from the end of the alleyway.
