Alex...
"Alright, we are in the Princesses Kingdom, you are filled with her love, and she helped spark your magic yesterday. There should be no reason you cannot do this." Will said to me just moments after Aurelia and Harry left the room.
"Yeah, yeah, I got it." I hushed him as I practically glared at the ice in my hand.
"You do not need to stare at it as if you want to murder it."
"Then how do you suppose I look at it?"
"It is a part of you. So how about you accept it and show it a little love and care."
"Are you serious?" My hand, with the chunk of ice, fell to my side. "Love the ice? Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds?"
"Do you not notice how Aurelia stares at every flower she creates and touches with love and admiration? She treats everything in her path with respect because it holds its own form of life." He explained. "Ice does not have life, but the principal is the same. Try handling it with care and watch the difference it makes."
I gave him a weird look and hesitantly lifted my hand back up to eye level. I stared at the ice cautiously, as if it was going to jump out at me. "So....you want me to like, compliment it or something?"
He sighed, taking a step closer to me. "You are not understanding me. You do not need to whisper sweet nothings to it, just appreciate it for what it is. Feel it, connect to it, then will it to do what you desire most."
I huffed, not knowing why this is so hard for me. I'm not struggling with belief anymore, because this is all real, clear as day. There are no more fears in my head, so I don't know what's stopping me.
I closed my eyes, and started thinking about Aurelia. I know Will would scold me if he knew this, and would yell at me for being distracted by her instead of focusing on the ice, but I couldn't help it. She always took up every inch of my brain, not that I mind at all.
So, with her on my mind, I started to think of a different tactic. I remember how she was in my castle, how cold and flustered she was as she huddled into my quilt. All I wanted was to make the cold disappear, and for her to feel warm.
"Well finally! I thought our savior was going to turn out to be a dud." Will exclaimed in exasperation.
I shot my eyes open to see nothing but a small puddle in my hand. My mouth hung slightly ajar as I realized I did it. I felt the same excitement creep up on me as last night, when Aurelia helped me make snow flurries on the flower.
He didn't waste another second before putting another block of ice in my hand. "Do it again." He demanded.
"Splendid!" He cheered as I melted the block of ice, much quicker than the first time. It was strange seeing it. It melted away as normal ice would on its own, but at a magically fast pace. It only took seconds to dissolve away, when it would've taken days if it had been left on its own.
"Remarkable." I mumbled, watching the water drip through my palms.
Feeling a little curious, I squeezed my hand into a fist, willing the water left on my palm and fingers to freeze. I gasped in astonishment as I felt the water turn into a thin layer of ice. As I stretched my hand back out, the ice cracked and broke apart, falling in little chips to the floor.
"Wow, I can't believe I did that. It felt so natural."
"See, once you accept that it is part of you, it will come easy." He nodded his head, looking quite pleased. "It took you longer to learn that than it did the Princess, but now that you understand, I am confident you will learn at as quick of a pace as she has."
