Chapter 66

Alex...

"Ugh, this is exhausting." Nixie groaned, dropping her water made sword, causing the water to splash at her feet.

Phoenix chuckled at her exhaustion. "See, told you this would be hard for you. Besides, you're only using water. Try using this bad boy." He gloated, swinging his flaming iron sword through the air.

"That's nothing to boast about, moron. Swords are supposed to be lighter and more agile."

"A sword isn't meant to be agile, the person wielding it is. You're clearly trying to make an excuse."

"Yeah, an excuse to sock you in the eye!"

"They just need to release all that tension and make out already." Aurelia quietly giggled in my ear.

"I don't disagree with you there." I snorted back.

"Alright, that is enough you two." Will scolded, coming to stand between them, while Captain Harry stood off to the side rubbing his temples.

"He's the one that started it!"

"I said enough!" He boomed, silencing the quarreling royals. "We have not the time for this foolishness! There is a dark war soon approaching."

The Prince of Fire, and the Princess of Water, shamefully bowed their heads, looking more like two scolded children than a pair of royalty. "My apologies, Captain." Phoenix mumbled.

"Good. Now, let us try switching partners." He commanded.

"Aw, boo." Rel lightly mumbled for only me to hear, before wandering over to her young Uncle.

"Guess it's you and me, lover boy." Nixie smirked, crossing the field to me.

"It'll be a nice break from having vines pinning my arms down, that's for sure. Still gonna win though." I smirked, getting into the proper stance.

"I wouldn't be too confident. Don't underestimate the power of water." She warned. "After all, you can't have ice without water now, can you?" Her smirk would've sent chills down my spine if this was a real battle.

"Fight!"

At Harry's command, I let out a battle cry before swinging the famous 'Sword of Ice' over my head. The water of her sword may have made it look see through and weak, but it was very much there when it collided with mine.

"Use every power you have. Use all elements around and within you as an advantage. Search for every crack and weakness." Captain William shouted instructions over the fighting.

"Cracks and weaknesses, huh?" She smirked again. "Like I said, can't have ice without water."

Before I could register what she was doing, her hand flew out in front of her body. All too quickly, I felt every drop of water draining out of my body. It didn't feel like my life was draining away necessarily, but it definitely did not feel good. It made me feel more exhausted than anything.

My arms drooped and my head felt heavy. All I wanted to do in that moment was lay down.

"Don't worry, you can have it back later." She laughed, forming it into a ball and leaving it to float in the air behind her.

I lamely tried to reach for it, but my legs wobbled, causing me to stumble forward. I've never felt more drunk, and ironically, it was because a substance wasn't in my body. She blocked me with her sword, and shoved hard. I tried to make a pile of snow to break my fall, but nothing came out of my hands as I crashed hard onto the grass. I've never felt so empty and hollow before. It was the weirdest feeling.
