Chapter 61

Alex...
When we emerged through the portal into the Fire Kingdom, time seemed to stand still for a moment. People stared with curiosity and confusion, probably wondering where the mess of our group came from. It only took them moments to recognize Prince Phoenix, and as the situation dawned, the castle broke into chaos.
Shouts were heard, servants and guards scrambled around, our cries filled the air. Mine were honestly probably the loudest. How could they not be when I was holding the near dead love of my life.
"Ready the medical wing! Light every candle and fire place in the castle immediately!" Phoenix ordered while taking Aurelia from my arms. "My warmth will help her." He said.
I wanted to argue, to tell him that she was safest with me, but I know he was right. I didn't have to be a genius to know my skin was cold to the touch and would do nothing but make her body temperature worse.
"Your Highness, the doctor is ready and everything is as you asked." A nurse maid rushed to our side as we entered the palace hospital. It looked like something out of a medieval film, but darker. Everything was dark and covered in ashy stones. There was a roaring fire pit with flames licking the ceiling.
Phoenix set Aurelia down on a bed right beside the fire, making sure the blankets were tightly wrapped around her frail body.
"She has fallen into a severe state of hypothermia that has put her in a slight comatose state. You found her just in time. Enough fire and heat, and she shall make it through." The doctor informed us.
"What about warm liquids? If someone gives me hot water, I can get it into her system." Nixie offered, her eyes blurred tears.
"Warming her from the inside. Excellent idea, I shall have someone bring in boiled water at once." He said before exiting the room.
"I feel as if he did nothing. Even I could have told you how to heal her." I said.
"Well, there isn't much he can do. We just have to get her warm." Phoenix put a friendly hand on my shoulder. "Now, you all might want to step aside."
We all did as he asked, and his whole body lit in flames. He stood as close to her as possible without touching her.
We stood around for a while in complete silence, listening to the crackling flames and labored breathing of my Princess. I could practically feel everyone taking an internal sigh of relief, and melting the stress of the past few days away. I know this search has taken it's toll on everyone, cause I'm definitely feeling the stress of it all.
I've almost lost her too many times than I care for, and I will not let it happen again. There is no way she is ever leaving my side after this.
If this Darkness wants a war, then a war they shall get. I am done playing defense.
They've gone far beyond pissing me off, and I will destroy them first chance I get.
I swear to God I will tear them apart, I will-
"Alexander."
"Huh?"
"I said, are you okay?" Will asked, staring at me intently.
"I'm fine." I breathed out slowly, realizing I had gone off on an angry rant in my head.
"Are you sure? Cause you've turned yourself into a walking ice sculpture again." Nixie pointed out, making me look down to realize I was in my solid ice form.
