I watch as Mateo comes out the door's of the building Victor and Roberto hot on his heels . I can't hear what they are saying to him nor do I care .Whatever it is I can see that it is clearly pissing Mateo off . I knock on the window letting the driver know I am about to open my door . he stands back out of the way . I open it just enough to hear Roberto " So you f*cking my girl now ?" He says I can't see Mateo's reaction but I hear him answer none the less " And if we are it's none of your business . Lucy will let you know if and when you can visit her she is a grown a*s woman who is quiet capable of taking care of her self in case you two have forgotten " Mateo says .

" She is coming home with me today I need to know she is ok . I haven't seen her in months . " Roberto fires back " You literally just seen her . You know she is fine if she wanted to go home with you she would be in your vehicle not mine . Listen you have to realize she and I have history together . Now we work together which is something you are going to have to get over . Right now Lucy is more comfortable at my place . I won't make her leave to go to your place just to please your ego ." Mateo says back through clenched teeth .

I stand out of the car and walk over to where this exchange is drawing in a crowd " Mateo you ready ? your parents should be there soon !" I remind him . They all turn their attention to me " Are you really leaving with him ?" Roberto asks me with saddened eyes " Yes Roberto Mateo is my safe haven . I know at his place I won't be kidnapped and almost raped . I will be fine " I say looping my arm through Mateos . He looks at Roberto and then at Victor " If that will be all I have my parents to attend . " Mateo says turning us to the car . Roberto is letting go that easy . he is right behind us step for step " Are you two together now Lucy ? I need to know what I need to do here . I have never been in this situation before " Roberto says .

I let go of Mateos arm and turn to Roberto " No we are not together right now and neither are you and I . You do what ever it is that you need to do I'll do what I need to do to get me through this . If there is one thing I can say about Mateo is he doesn't push me like you do he never has . Back off " I say turning back to climb in the car . The driver closes the door before Roberto can say anything else . Mateo climbs in the passenger side undoing his button on his suit jacket as he sits " I am sorry you had to hear that " Mateo says turning my face to him .

" No it's ok I needed to hear it for my self it makes making that decision to end things that much easier . Sorry you had to witness it . " I say turning in my seat in to Mateo's body " If you don't mind I'd like to take a nap on the way back to your place I am still a bit tired fighting off the drugs still in my system " I tell Mateo . He takes his suit jacket off and drapes it over me . I snuggle into his side and wrap myself in the warmth of his coat . I close my eyes and let the sway of the car take me to sleep .

When I wake it's dark outside and I am laying in a bed . Not my bed but I know this bed I come in here sometimes when I can't sleep and lay and talk with Mateo . I push the covers off of me and walk to the bathroom and brush my hair . I suddenly remember that Mateo's parents are here and I haven't seen them in years . As I exit the bathroom and begin to sprint down the stairs in search of Mateo I bump into one of Mateo's maids " Oh I am sorry I didn't mean to knock you down " I say as she looks up at me " It's ok it was my fault I should have been watching where I was going " She says .

" Is there something that you needed out of Mateo's room or to do ?" I ask her She shakes her head " No ma'me " She says before turning to walk away . That was weird . I will have to ask Mateo what she was doing trying to go in his room . he told me the maids was only to come in when summoned and was to leave the rooms alone unless otherwise told to . I make it to the bottom of the stairs and stop and listen for voices I know that is where Mateo will be . I hear them soon enough coming out of the library study . I make my way over to see his parents .

" Mateo you look so refreshed and so relaxed ! How is our girl doing ? Where is she at ?" I hear a woman say I know right away that is his mom talking " Son are you sure this is a road you want to go down . The last time you lost Lucy it about killed you and our organization " I hear his dad say . Loose me ? I don't want to eavesdrop so I just walk in to he study " Oh my gosh Hi ! I haven't seen you guys in forever sorry I wasn't down when you guys got here I took a small nap Mateo was supposed to wake me when we got here " I say walking over to his mom .

She stands and envelopes m in a hug " Oh my Child you have grown into an impeccable young woman ! You truly are just as beautiful as I remember ! How have you been ?" She says pushing me to arms length to get a good look at me " I have been better but being here with Mateo I know I am safe so that makes me feel a thousand times better !" I say just as Mateos father walks up to me " Oh doll you haven't aged a bit " He says as he embraces me . Mateo never had a sister he has a few brother so I was like his little girl growing up and trust me sometimes I used it to my advantage to get away with stuff . " Oh pops you didn't age a bit either a few gray hairs but hey that just makes you that mush more attractive! " I say picking up a gray hair .

Just as Mateo walks over to me a very beautiful and elegantly dressed blonde woman steps in the room " Oh good there is a help person in here can you be a doll and fetch me a drink " She says walking over to Mateo and wrapping her arms around his neck . I look around the room as to who sh is speaking to not even Mateo speaks to his help that way . Before I even finish my search she speaks again " I was talking to you honey " She says looking over at me I notice she is making Mateo uncomfortable . " Oh boy " I hear Mateos mom mumble under her breathe " This was your idea to bring her " I hear Mateos dad whisper back to his wife " Well I had no clue Lucy was here " She replies back

" I will be at the kitchen table since seeing as super will be served in a moment " I say before walking out of the study toward the kitchen . It doesn't take long until Mateo stops me " Lucy I had no idea she would be here . Nor did I ever expect her to speak to you tat way " Mateo says pulling me into a room and shutting the door . He releases his tie from around his collar and takes a deep breath " Her stench is still stuck in my nostrils can you come hug me to make it go away " He says walking over to him I wrap my arms around his torso " Who is she Mateo ?" I ask him I want to know what I am getting myself into .

" She is an ex of mine my parents was really hopeful that she and I would marry . I dated her to pass the time she fulfilled a void I had in my life . I am sorry that she is here " He says rubbing my back " I can't say anything Mateo it's not like you and I are a couple anymore not like we used to be . " I say in a sadden tone I have missed Mateo for the last eight years and have managed to move on from my childhood love . " I am sorry I will take my dinner upstairs tell your mom I hope we get to catch up soon " I say releasing Mateo and walking to the door .

Before I can open the door Mateo puts his left hand on the door above my head and his right hand he spins me around. We are so close I can feel his heartbeat " You do not have to take your dinner upstairs . You are my guest . I have spent the last eight years searching faces looking for just a glimpse of you in their eyes . I have spent the last eight years in a complete waste land searching for the soul that matches mine . I let you go once Lucy because I thought you deserved a better life than the one I could provide . A life where you didn't have to worry about if someone wanted to kill you just because you was my woman . I refuse to let you walk away now unless it was your choice . I have loved you since we was seven years old you will always be my first love and my first choice . No one else can ever compare to you ." Mateo says running the tips of his fingers down my face .

I have missed being this close to him . " What if you decide I can't handle this life anymore ? Will you pack up and move again in the middle of the night without so much as a phone call ?" I ask Mateo . He puts his forehead against mine " No I can see that you can handle this life . I won't pressure you into a decision right now . Just know that I am here when and if you want to come back . I know I have a lot to make up for and for that I am truly sorry next time I will know to trust your decisions . " Mateo says just as we hear a knock on the door " Sir dinner is served I thought you and Ms. Lucy would like to know " I hear a man say . I laugh " Well I am glad you didn't have me pinned against this door having your way with me " I state as I reach up and fix Mateo's tie and collar " Shall we go put a B*tch in her place ?" Mateo asks . I nod .
