Song: Sorry by HalseyQuote: "A crack in the wall"
••••Two weeks.
I was getting tired, of this emergency meeting, we were making a habit of every Wednesday. Today, was no different from the last time we held this kind of meeting.
So, it did not come as a surprise that Williams, was not present. Today held, much more tension than the last meeting held.
If in the worst scenario, the economic analyst failed to show up, we would have to resort to Mr Phil's first suggestion. Which could only mean that, Myself and Three thousands other, were at the brink of losing our Jobs.
I watch Mr Phil, wipe his face with a white handkerchief, he was on his third bottle of water. I wanted this whole thing to end soon. I made a mental note to talk with Williams after the meeting, Mr Phil needs to slow down. I couldn't ask him to quit at this point, the idea was too ridiculous.
The economic analyst, we was one of the best, in his field. The testimonies, of companies he had help build back up, were countless. His fame, as an economic messiah, could not be downplayed.
He was a perfect example, of business intelligence, put to a good and wider use, than just investing. This man, was building companies, and fortifying commercial industries. If it turned out that, he later turn down our invitation, we would sparsely understand.
There were several companies, that needed his kind of skill, and had much more to offer than Paige ltd. He is a hot cake, in the business world.
Pamela, was able to snag, a chance with one of his company representatives. It was a wild trial, the possibility of him coming here was thirty percent, but after two failed attempts in meeting him, our chances had declined to almost six percent or zero, if we wanted to put optimism aside.
Fear gripped my mind, the past two weeks had been a torture, my brain was going into overdrive, I thought of the many things, that losing my job could cause.
~
It was after two solid hours had passed, and Mr Phil was about to give his statement that the door opened and Williams walked in.He was sweating profusely, but his face shone with a smile. A William kind of smile. He explained the reason for his late, the economic analyst arrived an hour ago and Williams had missed picking him by some twist of fate.
The economic analyst, whom Williams confirmed to be, Mr Kehlani, had lost his way since he was unfamiliar with the city. It took another thirty to forty minutes, with small traffic jam, before they were able to meet.
He further explained, before he took a seat, that Mr Kehlani was in the company presently with a tour guide, to take a brief look at the company. It was understandable, though Pamela and I, had sent numerous financial statement of the company and the pictorial size and structure of PAIGE LTD, he needed to know, what and what he was getting into to.
Needless to say, I was grateful that he honoured our invitation and was presently in the company.
When Mr Kehlani walked into the conference room, escorted by Lisa, the company's tour guide. I was utterly surprised.
We all stood up, as he stopped by the door, talking to Lisa and another person I could not recognize.
I did not see his face clearly, due to distance and the numbers of person who were obstructing my view, but I could see that he stood an head higher, than the persons who were listening to whatever he was saying. Lisa, is fairly tall if you are wondering, she couldn't be more than five feet nine.
He ended his talk with Lisa, who hurriedly exited the conference room. As he walked nearer, and we started clapping, I saw that he looked young in contrast to the older person, I was expecting.
He stood in our front, using his hand to make a 'calming' motion, as he requested that we stop clapping and take a seat.
As we adhered to his request, I discovered that his face, sparked a strange sense of recognition. The man that stood before, was a rich and famous person, I most probably had seen his face in the many business magazine I perused frequently.
But that did nothing to the feeling I was getting, as I took in his shiny dark complexion, trimmed body build and ridiculously handsome looks.
This man must be a fraudster, I mulled, where on earth did someone as young as this (he didn't look a day older than twenty five), with such good looks amass so much wealth and fame.
He surely was not the Kehlani, we were expecting, maybe another one or his son.As he addressed us, I saw that he had dimples on both side of his cheeks and they popped shamelessly each time he flashed a smile at us.
Why did he create a strange sense of recognition within me?
Who was this man?
And why was I feeling, so unsettled in his presence?
I was so sure, we hadn't met before, who was kidding?. What kind of situation would warrant that I meet-in-person a man of his caliber and class?
My attention went back to him, as he gently asked Mr Phil not to bother and to take a seat.
Honey brown eyes dilated, as he greeted with a warm smile.
"Hello, everyone, I am an economic analyst and my name is Asiwaju Kehlani".Impossible!
