"I'm going to break his face in the next time I see him." Chase growled. He paced the floor with his arms crossed over his broad chest. I awkwardly shuffled in the uncomfortable wooden chair, my hands tucked under my thighs. Finally, he turned to me, "You're moving in with me. I don't want you staying in the same place as him." "Chase! I can't." I cried, "I've got to go to school, and the dormitories are the closest thing there! I can't just drop everything because of Justin-" "He's going to hurt you, (Y/N)!" He cried. I shrunk back into my chair. He was right. "Look." Chase sighed, pulling up a chair and sitting across from me, "I'll drive you to school, I'll get you breakfast, and I'll pick you up. I just want you to be safe." I gave him a cocky grin, "Why?" "You're my best friend!" He quickly stuttered out. I nodded slowly, agreeing that I'd go with him.
I wasn't the only one that was staying with Chase. Robin, his filming buddy, also lived in their shared apartment. I could tell Chase was embarrassed due to the messy apartment, but also that there were only two bedrooms. "I'll gladly take the couch." I offered. "No, you go to school. I'll take the couch, the bed is much more comfortable." Chase defended. I gave Robin a look of help, and he pointed towards the hallway, "It's the second door on the right." "Chase, I can't take your bedroom-" "You're not taking it if I'm giving it to you." He interrupted, "Just don't go digging through my stuff."
I couldn't sleep. My brain kept wandering, going to Justin, to school...to Chase. I only had one year of school- and the year was almost over anyways- and I would be out of Chase's hair by then. The thought of leaving him made me slightly sick to my stomach. I rubbed my eyes and leaned up. "I won't be sleeping anytime soon." I looked around the room, there were a lot of papers and files, clothes thrown everywhere. I know he said not to look through his things, but it will only be a peek. "Court files?" I mumbled. The pages listed dates when Chase had to be in court, but why? Had he hurt someone? Behind those were therapy documents. All of the sessions had been cancelled. Chase was getting therapy? "Chase Brody is a mentally unstable being, and needs to hospitalized. He's suicidal, and dangerous. From Stacy." I read. Who the hell is Stacy? And is Chase actually suicidal? My head began to ache as I thought about Chase and this Stacy. I needed sleep.
The sound of plates clinking together woke me from my sleep, the quiet chattering easing my mind. "Breakfast is ready!" Robin called from down the hall. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and entered the kitchen, they just finished setting up the table. "Morning, hipster!" Chase greeted. He ruffled my hair with one hand and held a plate of pancakes, eggs and bacon in the other. I snatched the plate from his grasp and sat at the small round table, devouring the food without another word. "So, I was thinking." Chase announced, "After class, we should go ice skating." "Ice skating? In the middle of May?" I giggled. He playfully rolled his eyes, "Or you can stay home by yourself." "I've got Robin-" "He's going out with his editor for some ideas," Chase smirked. I let out a sigh, "Fine, but that means you've got to study with me afterwards."
I made my way out of the college, spotting Chase in his car. He rolled down the window, "Get in loser, we're going skating." He mocked. I quickly threw my stuff in the back set and sat up front with him, "Scoot over bitches!" We chuckled at each others references. "Have you ever skated before?" He asked. I gave him a cocky grin, mocking him, "Uh, yeah! I totally have!" We giggled again. "I'm going to fall on my ass." I nervously giggled. "Don't worry, I'll catch you."
"If I die, I'm suing you." I teased Chase, who had an arm around my waist and the other was holding my hand. "I won't let you get hurt, let alone die." Chase smirked. We slowly made our way onto the frozen ice, no body was really here, only three people not counting us were on the ice. "Okay. The trick to ice skating is that you need to remain calm, and keep your thoughts collected. I'm not going to let go unless you tell me to do so." He explained. Biting my lip, I closed my eyes and slightly pushed away from Chase. I was balancing on my own! I hold my eyes in awe, "Chase! I'm doing it-Woah!" Chase quickly wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me to his chest before I could fall. Once again, our faces went red as we stared into each other's eyes. My heart was beating quickly, why does he do this to me? Why does he make my heart beat so fast? "Are you okay?" He asked quickly. I didn't want to reply. I knew he would let me go, and the moment would be over. I wanted to grab his face and kiss him. But fear covered my eyes as I shoved him away, "Uh, yeah. Everything's good." I could tell I hurt him slightly with my shove, but he still smiled at me. "I'm glad you're okay." Once again, I tried to balance on my own. Chase was watching me like I was a toddler trying to learn to walk, it kinda felt like that to. My legs shook and my arms moved in every direction possible to keep me steady. I grinned, "I think I'm okay." "Okay, Hipster. Standing on your own is one thing, actually skating is something completely different." Chase chuckled and took a hold of my hands again. I felt my face go red, and my eyes widened. I could tell Chase was having a hard time to control himself to. He coughed, "Okay, we'll take it slow."
Once again, it was raining. But we didn't mind. We kept stumbling onto each other like we were drunk out of happiness. Chase teased me about how I kept falling. I'll probably have hundreds of bruises. The rain soaked our hair, our clothes, everything. But we didn't mind. Why?
