I scanned my (E/C) eyes over the empty covers, some pink, some blue, some black, some white. Chase groaned and leaned onto the shopping cart, "Come on, Love. Just grab one and let's go." I rolled my eyes and playfully look at him, "No, it has to be perfect! It's going to be passed down, generation after generation!" Olivia and I thought it would be a good idea to start a family photo album. Since Chase and I both majored in Photography, and we have a little one on the way, we thought it'd be cute! But finding a good cover was coming out more difficult than we thought. Chase grabbed one from the shelf, eyeing it. It was a grey leather, smooth and strong. "Love, look at this one." He gently handed me the book. It looked like it was hand stitched. There was a place to hold one photo on the front, and underneath it said 'And So It Begins...' in black lettering. I flipped it open, glancing over the white pages that would soon hold our memories. I smiled brightly, "It's perfect."
Avery and I sat cuddled up on the couch. He closely watched as I put the ultrasound pictures into the photo album, along with some pictures of Chase and Olivia. I didn't know what photo I was going to put on the front since we didn't have one of our family, let alone a good one of Chase and I. I'm sure we could get some good pictures sooner or later. Olivia then appeared at my side and gave me a small smile, "Mom. I've got some great baby names." I giggled and scooted over and patted the spot next to me, "Tell me." "I really like the name Rarity." She softy mumbled. I ran my fingers through her hair, "Where did you come up with this name?" "From My Little Pony...." She blushed. I giggled and playfully pondered, "Do you want to name the baby after a TV show?" She shook her head, "I just wanted some attention..." A frown fell onto my face. Chase must be upstairs working on YouTube. I looked over at Avery, then to Olivia, "Why don't we take Avery on a walk, then we can go get Ice Cream." She nodded vigorously, already gripping onto Avery's leash.
I looked around the park as Olivia walked behind Avery, licking her chocolate ice cream cone as the sticky sweetness dropped down her small hand. I giggled and wiped her face, "You're making such a mess, Livy." She smiled and continued licking her sweets. I rested a hand on my barely seeable baby bump, it was small, but it's there. It was kinda cute. Olivia looked over at my belly, studying the bump, "How big is the baby?" I pondered for a moment, then showed her the tip of my pinkie. She nodded slowly and looked at my belly again before connecting her eyes back to the ground. We walked in silence for a moment, the only sound coming from Avery's collar hitting against the leash, metal hitting metal. Olivia scraped her shoes against the dirt, kicking small rocks away from her as she fumbled with her fingers. "When the baby is born, will you and Dad still love me?" My heart slightly shattered as I stopped in my tracks. Avery whimpered at us, as if asking why we stopped. "Livy, do you think we're going to forget you? Honey, you're our daughter, we can't just stop loving you." "But when the baby comes, I won't get attention like I used to. I'll be pushed aside." She cried softly. I quickly wiped her tears and gently kissed her cheeks, "The baby will need a bit more attention since it's a newborn, it can't take care of itself. That's why me and Dad have to handle them. But we will always make time to take care of you, too, Olivia. We will always love you, and we're not just going to forget about you." She nodded gently and wrapped her little arms around my waist, resting her face on my belly. I smiled to myself, first parent lesson handled. I ran a hand through her brown hair, "I believe it's time to go home, I need to cook some dinner. What do you want?" "I kinda wanted some McDonalds...." She smiled softly.
"Chase!" I called, placing the paper bags onto the table, "I brought home food!" Olivia dug her French Fries and her nuggets from the box and sat at the table, smiling as she fed Avery one. Chase wrapped his arms around my waist and gently kissed my cheek, "How are you feeling?" I moved his hand to my belly and smiled brightly, "We're ready for food." He playfully rolled his eyes and grabbed our food, "I'll meet you in the bedroom." I snatched the bag from him, "I want to eat now. Like now. So, we're eating at the table." He put his hands up in defense and sat at the table, digging out his food and placing it in front of him, "Alright, I got it, Baby Mama."
