~ Chase's Perspective ~
The streets on Brighton were almost empty on this freezing morning. I wore my heavy jacket, and steam rose from the coffee cups in my hands. One was for me, the other was for (Y/N). Ever since she lost the baby all those months ago, she's been working pretty hard to forget the hard times. But she won't. She has a large scar running across her abdomen from where they removed the fetus, and the doctors told her that getting pregnant again would be a miracle for her, James damage the uterus, and trying to conceive would be a challenge. Stupid James. Still hated that guy. (Y/N) broke up with him not long after the miscarriage and a small fight broke at. James threw a couple of punches, and cruel words, but she still stood strong. When she got to her apartment, she turned around and collapsed into my arms, wailing loudly. Then, after a couple of months, she slowly began to recover, but she became a writer. She's a good one, but she worries so much when she get lost in her ideas, and it's been hard to provide her with the ideas. I shook out of my trance and gently knocked on her apartment door, "I brought coffee." Soon, she opened the door and took the cup into her own hands, "Thanks! Do you want to come in?" I nodded and entered the distressed home. Her house wasn't a mess, it was actually pretty clean. But every time you entered the home, you can feel the stress and tension in the air. (Y/N) quickly pushed pass me and jumped back onto her computer, "Alright. I've got a question." I pulled up a chair a rested a hand on my chin, ready to listen. She cleared her throat and turned to me, "Okay! So, the main character has finally found the treasure of Captain Avery-" After that, I kinda blanked out. Her (E/C) eyes caught me in a trance that I've never felt before. Was she always this beautiful? "So? What should I do?" She finished. I shook out of my trance and cleared my throat, raking my brain for what she had said, "U-Uh." She puffed out her lip, "You weren't listening, were you?" I bashfully rubbed the back of my neck, "Hehe. Sorry, Hipster." She sighed and turned back to her computer, muttering under her breath. I felt bad, so I began to show myself out, but then I remembered why I many came over here, "Oh. I was wondering if you like to go camping with me this weekend. It's only going to be you and I, in a private area, so no one will bother us. She temporarily looked away from the screen, but then turned back to it. I think her cheeks were pink. "I mean, I'm down. I need to get away from this house anyways." She then turned her computer off and turned back to me, "What all do I need?" "Just pack like we're going to a hotel. Bathing suit, clothes, shoes, other necessities for woman." My face became red as I said that, as did hers. She cleared her throat, "Okay. I'll get packing."
~Your Perspective~
I nervously bit my lip as I look back at my apartment complex, was I really going to leave my safe place? "Come on, Hipster! We need to get going!" Chase called from his car. I huffed and pulled my luggage, tossing it into the trunk. I settled down into the passenger seat and buckled up, taking one last look at my home. "Hey, this is a vacation. Don't worry about all that." Chase nudged my shoulder, "You get to spend some time with me." That's what I'm afraid of. I nodded and shoved my hair behind my ears, "Can we just go already?"
Chase set up camp as I set up the tent- which is harder than you think! Once again, the tent collapsed on itself. I angrily groaned and threw the stakes down, kicking the cloth, "I'm freaking done with you!" I listened as Chase chuckled and walked over to me, "You get angry so quickly, you're going to let a tent defeat you?!" I rolled my eyes and gestured to the cloth, "How about you do it, SmartAss." "Gladly!" Was all he said. And within minutes, the tent was fully functional. I sat astounded, "How-? When did you-? What!?" "I used to do Boy Scouts. Only for two years though, then I had to quit." He explained. I nodded slowly, "We better get the beds in there, it's going to be dark soon." We began to unload, the uncomfortable silence giving us company. I settled into my bed and pulled the duvet up to my chin. "Good idea. We've got a long day ahead of us tomorrow. We're going hiking." Chase announced, "Sleep well."
Quiet birds chirped in the woods, the morning sun bleeding through the translucent tent. "Morning SunShine!" Chase called, " I've made breakfast!" We're really camping... . I groaned and rubbed my eyes, "Yeah, okay. I'll be out soon." As soon as I threw the duvet off, I was freezing! Frost particles floated up into air as I let out a shaky sigh. I scrambled to get some clothes on. I wore my heavy snow jacket, skinny jeans, and combat boots. Now I was comfortable. Chase chuckled when his eyes landed on me, "I see someone met the cold air this morning." He settled a plate with bacon and eggs in front of me, "Hurry and eat. We've got a long hike ahead of us." "Do we really have to?" I picked up my fork and shoveled some egg into my mouth, "It's freezing." "It will warm up, and later, we can go swimming. Hiking is just to get up in shape." He pointed to his belly, "Can't look like this all the time." I giggled and finished my breakfast, "Let's go." "You're really up for it? I don't want to carry you all the way back down the mountain." He chuckled. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest, "Oh please! How hard can it be?"
"C-Chase Dy-lan B-Brody!" I puffed, "If I d-die on this m-mountain, I'm going to h-haunt you! Forever!" I was exhausted, and we were only halfway up the mountain. Chase was still steadily going, but I was lagging behind. I think I'm going to collapse. "Told you that it wasn't going to be easy!" He called over his shoulder. I groaned and wiped the sweat from my forehead, "You were in Boy Scouts!" I shouted. Alright, that's it. I collapsed onto the dirt, letting out a long sigh, "I can't go any farther!" I listened as he laughed and made his way back over to me. He pulled the water from his bag and held it to my lips, "Drink." I looked into his eyes as I sipped on the liquid, cooling my throat slightly. He looked so sweet and gentle when we looked at me, like I was the most important and fragile thing in the world. Maybe I am. Chase pulled the bottle away before I could drink it all and shoved it back into his bag, "We can turn around now, I just wanted to waste some time so the sun would warm up some more. I didn't want us swimming in the cold." I nodded and helped myself up and brushed off my pants, "You want me to die, don't you?"
I watched from the tent as Chase lowered himself into the lake. His bare back grew goosebumps as he squealed, "Yeah, that's cold!" I giggled and looked down on myself, at my bathing suit. It was a two pieces, and it showed my pregnancy scar. That's what I was insecure about. From a distance, you couldn't see it, but if you were at talking distance, you could tell what it was. And now I can always look at it and think about my first child. Chase and I could have been happy with each other- "Come on (Y/N)! Are you just going to stand there and look pretty or join me in the water?!" Chase shouted from the water. I giggled and rushed to the water side, only my toes touched the water, "Oh no. There's no way I'm swimming in that. It's freezing." He rolled his eyes and quickly picked me up bridal style, carrying me through the water. I squealed and squirmed as the water touched my back back and my things. It felt like ice cold needle poking at my skin. Chase then tossed me into the water, my head going under, soaking my hair. I arose from the water and shivered, "Chase!" I cried. Chase laughed at my 'pain' and grabbed my hand, pulling me close to his chest, "Let me try and warm you up." I listened to his heartbeat, my face warm from the blushing. We looked at each other lovingly. We both began to lean in, closer and closer. Our soon-to-be-kiss was interrupted by a flare going off, the red light exploding into the sky. Chase and I pushed each other away and looked at the flare. "Someone is in danger." Chase muttered, "The Ranger is days away, they won't get help in time that they need." I grabbed his hand under the water and pulled him to the shore, "Let's go help." "Are you crazy?! There could be a murder, or a bear!" Chase worried. I threw on one of Chase's shirts and some shoes, "They need help, Chase. I don't want to feel guilty when something bad happens to them that we've could of stopped." He nodded and put on a shit himself, "Alright. But you need to listen to me." I smirked over at him, "What's the worse that could happen?"
