"Alright! Have a good day at school! Focus hard-" "But not to hard!" I shouted over Chase, "Just have a good day!" Olivia's cheeks flushed red as her parents screamed at her. We both giggled and walked as she entered the school. I proudly looked at Chase, "We're going to be good parents." "Hey! I've already had my training! It's your turn!" He chuckled. Chase gently placed his warm hands on my belly, caressing the bump with his thumbs. I smiled down at the bump, "There's a teeny baby in there." Chase pulled my face up and kissed my cheek.
My Irish fiancé placed a cup of warm tea in my hands and gently sat next to me with a cup in his. I placed down my book and sat comfortably on the couch. Chase brought the cup to his lips and smiled, "How are you feeling?" I sipped on the liquid and cleared my throat, "I feel...fine. I feel as normal as I ever did." I traced my thumbs around the rim of the glass, "I'm just scared." Attention caught fully, Chase connected his icy blue eyes with mine, and shoved the brown hair away from his eyes, "Scared of what, Love?" "A miscarriage..." I mumbled quietly. He bit his lip softly and set down his mug, then grabbing my hands, "You need to push that thought out of your head. Think positively." "But what if-" "No, shut up." He stated politely, "You're listening to me now. The doctor said you and the baby are completely healthy. Everything is going to be fine. Let me do the worrying. Let me stress." Chase tucked some hair behind my ear, "You're doing all the work, carrying this baby. Let me worry about other things. You just need to worry about keeping you and this baby safe and healthy." He gently kissed my forehead, pulling away to caress my face. I smiled gently at him. He rolled his eyes and grabbed me, pulling me to his chest as cuddled on couch. I used my index finger and rubbed circles onto his chest, "For a boy, I think I want the name Tobias." Chase gave me an odd look, "Tobias...? Why Tobias?" "Of course, we can call him Toby for short." I giggled excitedly. He smiled at me and moved the hair away from my cheeks, "For a girl...I like the name Aubrey." I looked at him and smiled, "It's pretty."
Why is she looking at me like that...? Why with that smile? With those haunted eyes? Does she want me to suffer? To bleed out of existence? Her head fell to the side, her red locks covering half of her face, "Are you happy with Mr. Brody?" My body froze. I felt empty, soulless. "Does he make you feel like you're living a fairytale?"  I tried to speak, but something stopped me. Something was at my throat. Stopping me from talking, or barely breathing. "He really is something special." She spoke in a distant voice, "I remember when I felt like that. When my heart fluttered at his voice. Or when he'd hold my waist and we'd laugh, and kiss." "He didn't love you-" "He did love me. But what he did was unthinkable." She smiled and gently wiped away her tears, "You can't stop what he's done."
"Mom!" Olivia called, throwing her bag into the table, "I'm home!" I rubbed my eyes, and Chase loomed above me. He gently brushed my hair from my eyes, "Did you take a nap?" I nodded gently and stretched my limbs. Kissing my forehead, he smiled, "I brought home dinner. Olivia wanted some fast food." I slightly gagged, "I'll eat a little later..." Disappointed, Chase huffed and stuck a hand into his brown hair, "Not craving it, huh?" I leaned up onto the couch and gently combed my hair with my fingers, "I need to go into town anyways." "Town?" He pondered aloud, "Why?" "I'm meeting up with a friend."
I knocked on the door, bouncing on the balls of my feet as anxiety ran through my veins.  The door slammed open, and there stood Stacy. Her hair was a mess, and she held a bottle of wine in her hand. I stood, wordless. "Can I help you?" She scolded. I shook my head, "Uh-Uh. Sorry. I just wanted to talk..." Then, a man stubbled next to her and kissed her neck, biting it roughly, "We aren't finished, what's taking you so long?" He whispered seductively. He looked at me then bashfully turned away, hiding himself. "It's about Chase." I muttered quietly. Stacy looked shocked. She giggled quietly, "Trouble in paradise, hm, Love?" "I just have some questions, and that's all-" "Then ask him yourself." She growled, "I don't want to hear his name anymore." "What did he do to hurt you?" I quickly asked before she could shut the door. Stacy stopped in her tracks, dead freeze. She closed the door behind her and wrapped her robe tighter into her body. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath and relaxed her muscles, "He cheated on me-" "You cheated on Chase." I interrupted rudely. She gave me a hard glare, "Shut up and listen to me. You wanted answers, so you'll shut up and listen to them." I bit my lip and nodded gently, encouraging her to go on.  "I came home one night, and found Chase in the bedroom with another woman." She blinked away her tears and cleared her throat, "He apologized repeatedly, stating he was drunk, and in a bad place. We had recently lost our son, Troy. Instead of seeking help like I did, he turned to drinking. He became vile and...abusive. When he came home, two things would happen. The roughest sex anyone could ever imagine, or he'd beat me till I'd pass out." She wipes away her tears, "When I 'cheated' we were getting a divorce. I took Olivia cause I knew what Chase would do-" "You abused her-" "That was my boyfriend at the time. I dropped him the moment I found out. I just wanted Olivia to be safe."
