"Did Addison ever mention some sort of debt to you?" I asked Emera as she sat across from Xavier and I in a booth. Snotty waitress was nowhere to be seen, so we stole Emera away to see if she knew anything about what's going on."She once asked for a job here. I would of given her one but we had no spot open. When she saw me a week later she told me she found a job but didn't mention what it was and never said anything more about it." She started to fidget with her thumbs. "I just hope she's ok. I should of questioned her more about the job she got."
"It's ok. You know more than I do at this point. She never mentioned no job to me."
"She told me." Xavier spoke up with his mouth filled with a muffin. Emera and I turned our heads in his direction and waited for him to explain. Why didn't he mention this before? "She told me about how she started working for one of her friends dads business. She didn't tell me anything more."
"Did she hint at which friend?"
"Nope." And with that, he went back to devouring the muffin. What friend would she be working for? And why has she never mentioned any of this to me?
"I've got to get back to work. Tell me if you figure anything else out." I waved her goodbye and just sat, staring out the window.
"Want some?" Xavier offered the rest of his muffin but I just shoved it away. I wasn't exactly the happiest at the moment. "Lighten up. People don't have to tell you everything, ok"
"They do when I tell them everything." I looked at my arrow tattoo in awe. I always loved the simplicity of it. It wasn't entwined into anything or drawn in a fancy way, it was just a normal arrow. Normal arrow for semi normal girl. "We have to get into that warehouse some time soon."
"But there's no way in. It's also very closed off because they found a dead body there."
"What happened to the Xavier that was so eager to go?"
"I just don't want to be arrested." He got up for a moment to give his plate to the woman at the cash register, not forgetting to give her a charming smile and a wink before walking back and sitting opposite to me. "If we want to get in, then we to do it when nobody will be there."
"They'll always have someone there. There's always a chance the killer will go back to the crime scene."
"What about tonight? There probably won't be as many policemen there." I nodded slowly thinking about the possibilities. There will be someone there, but if we're careful enough we won't get caught. Or worst case scenario, they have dogs.
"It's worth a shot. But we have to be careful. Very. Careful." Xavier nodded staring straight into my eyes making sure I know he's serious.
"We should sneak around the warehouse so we're not in a noticeable place. Like go around the back and hope to god there's a door."
"We're going to need flashlights. I'm hoping you have some so we don't risk my dad finding me leave the house with flashlights. That would definitely raise a lot of questions, questions he'll eventually get answers to and then he would ground me for eternity because I went against him." I know it will happen. He'll kill me when no ones looking and then hide my body in the warehouse.
Maybe that's a bit extreme.
"Should we take the metal?" I raised an eyebrow, confused. "You know... The metal." He made a gun shape with his hand so I would catch on.
"We're not taking the gun." I practically shouted.
"Be a bit more quite will you. You have no idea who could be listening to our conversation." He took a look around us to make sure no one was paying attention. "I'll pick you up around eight. I've got to go do something." He waved me goodbye before leaving.
Looks like I'm walking home.

Xavier showed up at exactly eight o'clock. "Bye dad!" I yelled hoping he could hear me as I grabbed my bag and opened the door.
"Where are you going?" He stood behind me with his arms crossed.
"Out with a friend." Giving a short answer, hoping he would just let me go.
"And what will you be doing with this friend?"
"Just hanging out like normal teenagers. Can I go now." Rolling my eyes.
"If you need to talk to me, I'm here. I just want you to know that so you don't go making any bad decisions." His eyes softened as they looked at me.
"I'll be fine dad." I whispered as I went to hug him. We stayed like that for a while before he let me go. "I'll try to be home by midnight." Was the last thing I said before closing the door behind me and jogging to Xavier's car.
"That was cute." He commented, obviously seeing me hug dad.
"Shut up and drive." Now I was going to have that song stuck in my head for the rest of the night.
"Did he seem suspicious at all?" He side glanced at me.
"Only slightly but that's just because he has no idea where I'm going or who I'm with. He probably thinks I'm going to snap at any moment." I laughed at the last part.
"I wouldn't be surprised if you did." He whispered under his breath hoping that I wouldn't hear; I obviously did. "So what exactly are we looking for when we get there?"
"I don't know, she didn't specify. It's probably just another note that leads to some other place around town. She's probably making us go around in circles for her own amusement. I wouldn't be surprised if she was somehow watching us right now."
"Neither would I." Xavier once again whispered. I still have questions about him and Addison's relationship, but I'll ask about them at a better time.
The road was dark and long. Trees zoomed by as we travelled into the dark. Then we pulled over to the side of the road a few meters away from our destination. "This is for you." Xavier passed me a flashlight and got one for himself.
"Let's do this." I got of the car and stepped directly onto a rock, making me trip slightly. This was starting out great.
