Xavier was waiting under the tree I told him to meet me at. This school doesn't have many areas where you can have a secret conversation without being snooped on. He was leaning on the tree wearing sunglasses, his leather jacket and skinny jeans, looking down at his phone. He heard me approaching and quickly put his phone away before putting a smirk on his face."When you said we needed to talk, I didn't know you were going to send me to such a secluded area." He looked at our school that was a whole field away.
"It's not that secluded but it's the best we'll get." I replied.
"So, what's up? We got more searching to do?"
"Yes. We're going back to the warehouse. Tonight." I stated.
"You sure? Remember what happened last time..." He questioned.
"The investigations no longer going on at the warehouse so we should be able to go through without any trouble. There are no other alternatives at this point so if we can't go there then we can't continue." He simply nodded and looked to the floor, "So, you still in?"
"Of course, who else is going to drive you there?"
"Great. Just one thing, do you happen to have a blacklight?"
"You mean the ones people use to see... Germs and stuff?" I nodded with anticipation. "I might have one in the basement or something. I'm sure I've seen my uncle with one before." He looked at me with confusion.
"We're going to need one tonight. My dad said he's heading into office at around seven so that would be the best time to sneak out instead of being questioned."
"Sure."
"Now that that's settled, I need to find Patrick. I'll meet you at your car this afternoon."
"Why do you have to leave so quickly? Can't we have a nice conversation?" He acted hurt.
"As much as I'd like to, I really have to talk to Patrick." I gave him a little wave goodbye before making my way back on school grounds. I didn't find him in his normal spot on the football field so I was forced to walk around in search of the tall boy.
I found him on the front steps in a deep conversation with Ashley. I didn't want to intrude so I awkwardly lingered behind them, deciding to slightly eavesdrop on their conversation.
"So you'll pick me up at six?" Ashley asked.
"Yep. Bring something warm, I heard it's going to get cold tonight."
"Ok. I can't wait! See you tonight." She smiled before getting up and turning to me. "Oh, hey Sasha." I smiled at her as she walked back into school, leaving me with Patrick. There was a unknown feeling at the bottom of my stomach at their conversation. Patrick and I looked at each other for a while with slight tension hovering between us.
"You going to sit down or stand there all day?" He lightly patted the spot next to him. I took the seat, still looking into his gaze.
"So, you and Ashley huh?" I awkwardly tried to make small talk.
"Yep. You and Xavier huh?" He shot back. I rolled my eyes, not wanting to get back into this conversation.
"I need to tell you something." A girl started walking up the stairs, making Patrick and I move for a second but quickly going back to our place. "First, I'm sorry for snapping at you the other day. I'm just stressed with a lot of things happening."
