*uneditied*My dumb ass forgot to grab money for a cab back, so I was basically running home at night in a town where a couple of murders have happened. The images of what I just saw kept flashing through my mind. Why would they do that? Well, I can kind of understand why but why would they do that to the people around them?
Drops of water started to hit my face as the sky cried. I can think of someone else who must of cried...
A car slowed down next to me before completely stopping. I did what my dad always told me; pretend like you're not paying attention to it, keep your head down and continue walking. The car slowly rolled beside me a little more before stopping again, but this time the window was rolling down.
"Hello Sasha." The deep voice said. I stopped and looked at Casey.
"Hello." I shivered as the rain started to get heavier. Should of brought a coat.
"Would you like a drive home? I couldn't let one of my nephews friends - especially a girl - walk around in the rain at night." He gave a polite smile and reached over to open the door. I gave him a tight smile before hopping in and giving directions to my house.
Driving in silence must be a thing that runs in the Langford family, well with the two men that I know. Casey's eyes quickly looked me over making me feel slightly uncomfortable. "What happened to your hand?" He looked at it curiously.
"Accident with a kitchen knife." I summed up. A shiver ran up my spine and it wasn't because I was cold. The calm vibe radiating off of him was starting to unsettle me. Whenever I've seen Casey, he looks and sounds either angry or frustrated; and that's just him being around Xavier.
"What's with you and my nephew? You guys dating or something?" He kept eye contact with the road.
"No. I'm just helping him with school." The lie flowed out. I was hoping he couldn't see right through me.
"Is he doing good? In school?"
"Yeah, totally. He just needed help understanding this one thing..." I rushed out. The silence continued as I looked out the window.
"Don't walk by yourself at night, OK? We wouldn't want anybody else to go missing." I whipped my head around so fast that I almost flung out of the seat.
"You know about her?"
"Of course. It's a small town, things spread easily. Did you know her?"
"Yeah... She was my friend."
"I'm sorry about that. Hopefully they'll find her soon." His toned seemed off. A mixture between not really caring and a hidden meaning.
Nothing else was said the rest of the way home. He pulled the car over right in front of my lit up house. Dad must still be awake. I turned to see Casey was already looking at me.
"Uh, thanks for the ride." I opened the door and stepped out.
"Sasha," he called when I closed the door. "Keep an eye on Xavier for me. Make sure he's doing what he's been told." I nodded slowly and watched him drive off down the street. What did that entire car ride even mean? I walked up the drive way and into my still lit up house.
"Dad?" I called out as I walked to the kitchen and looked at the clock. 10:13. I saw dad standing on the back patio on the phone looking very serious. He ended the call and rushed back inside.
"They found something in the Addison investigation. I have to go." He informed me, quickly grabbing his jacket and keys.
"I'm coming with you." I followed close behind. Dad stopped and spun around.
