I opened the door to Xavier. "How did you find me?" I asked."I asked a guy at reception if he saw two girls - one with blue hair and the other with purple - go into one of the rooms." He seemed calm but avoided eye contact. "You going to let me in?" He looked to the floor.
"I don't want to... But I'm going to." I kept my head high and left a gap for him to walk through.
"You know." He stated and I nodded.
"You betrayed me. You were working against me the entire time! You used me to get close to her!" I yelled at him.
"I had to!" He yelled back. "I can't get away or they'll kill my brother." He explained. The boy in the picture was his brother that he didn't want to talk about. But if he's alive, then why haven't I seen him?
"Where is he?" I asked quietly.
"He's in the hospital in a coma. He hasn't woken up since the crash that killed my parents and if I back out, they'll kill him." I could hear the pain in his voice.
"They can't just walk into a hospital and kill someone." I stated
"They don't have to. They have people everywhere to do their dirty work. Some work at the police station. Why do you think it's taking so long to solve the warehouse murder?" It made sense. That means they would know information about people that could do some damage and kill someone.
Why the hell out of all the jobs in the world, you'd go to this one Addison? Well, I guess she didn't have much of a choice.
"What about the jacket? You said your dad gave it to you." I asked.
"My father was part of them - the Black Bears. Before he died, he gave me the jacket as a reminder of him; he always wore it. Things went wrong, fast, but he couldn't do anything about it. He made the same mistake as Addison so he met his fate. But it took my mother with it."
"How can you stand around the people that killed your parents everyday?"
"It's not willingly. If I could get out of it I would, but they have control over me because of my brother." He scratched the back of his neck.
"How do I know you're not lying about all of this?" I met his eyes for the first time this visit.
"Have I ever lied to you?" His sapphire pools looked into me. He promised me nothing bad was going to happen to me. He didn't think that the entire time he was being a double agent, that it wouldn't hurt me when I found out.
Nothing may of happened to me physically, but emotional pain was the worst pain.
"Yes." I whispered, breaking the eye contact. He reached for me, but I stepped back. "I understand that you're doing this for your brother, but are you really going to keep ruining people's lives for him?" I asked meeting his eyes again.
"Maybe." He whispered and forced me to look him in the eye again, "Would you do the same for Addison? For your dad? For Patrick?"
"I wouldn't of joined a gang in the first place." We kept our eyes on each other.
It's amazing how your perspective of a person can change within just a couple of hours. I began the night with all my trust in Xavier and now I don't even want to be looking at him. But, I brought this on myself.
"I never came to you looking for help. You came to me." I reminded him.
"I was following instructions. You shouldn't of gone asking around." He told me. He was right, I should of just left it alone. But then I wouldn't of had closure about Addison's disappearance.
I realise my mistake in wanting to talk to him. I should of followed Addison and Jesse.
"I don't want to talk to you anymore." I whispered loud enough for him to hear. "I don't want you here anymore."
He looked at me with pain across his face. He stepped closer to me and this time I didn't move. He put one hand on my cheek and looked into me, showing me his sadness. I reached my hand up and put it on his. I felt comfortable with his hand on my cheek, momentarily forgetting everything that has been revealed to me.
But that was my mistake.
"I'm sorry." Xavier whispered with genuine sadness and regret. I was confused, but then I felt the prick in the side of my neck and saw the needle fall to the floor.
I froze and then everything started to spin.
I started my decent to the ground, nobody catching me.
I should of seen it coming. I should of listened to Jesses warning.
I should of done a lot of things to prevent this from happening, but it was too late.
My vision was blurring, but I still saw the door open and heard my name being called by Addison.
