We burst through the doors of school and ran through the thankfully empty hallway. "How do you know he's not in class?" I asked Patrick as I watched his fingers fly around the screen of his phone."He usually doesn't go to first period on a Monday."
We turned the corner and ran right into Mrs. Joseph. She was attempting to balance a coffee cup on top of a couple of books, which she quickly grabbed when we almost knocked it down. "Sasha, Patrick, aren't you suppose to be in class right now?" She looked between us.
"Yes we are and that's where we are going which is why we are in such a hurry." I tried explaining. She hummed and placed her cup back on the books.
"Then I expect to see you in my next class, Sasha." I nodded quickly and we waited patiently for her to round the corner before quickly running to the computer rooms. There are three computer rooms in different parts of the school, so we just have to find the one that has Zachary in it.
After searching for a good ten minutes, we finally found him sitting by himself playing Fortnite. Typical. "Zachary, we need your help." I said standing next to him.
"Give me one minute." His hands were tapping away at the keyboard. I looked to see there were six people left in the match.
"This is a matter of life and death." Patrick tried.
"So is this, just hold on." I rolled my eyes. I'm not about to wait around for him, so I did the most evil thing I could think of. I followed the cords to a power outlet and switch it off. "Are you kidding me right now! I almost had it, there were four people left!" He yelled before standing up from the chair and throwing his hand up.
"We're not joking when we say this is life or death! I got a call from Addison, the girl missing, and she didn't sound like she was ok. So, can you please track the call to see where it came from?" I asked politely.
"No."
"What do you mean no?" Patrick came to stand next to me.
"I mean no. I won't do it. I almost had the perfect win and you guys ruined it for me."
"I didn't ruin it for you! She pulled the plug!" Patrick raised his voice to defend himself. Such a great friend.
"First of all, I didn't pull any plug, it was a switch. Second of all, if you don't help us I swear to god I will grab a pair of scissors and cut your hair, your shirt and your computer wires." I made a snipping motion with my fingers. He shifted between his feet for a couple of seconds before sitting back down in his seat and putting his hand out. I gave him a high five with my bandaged and he looked at me like I had two heads.
"I didn't want a high five, I wanted your phone." My mouth made an O shape and I quickly fetched my phone to place in his hand.
"Thanks man." Patrick grabbed a chair and moved it next to Zachary who just waved his other hand and started doing his tech thing. A couple of minutes later he stopped typing and sat back.
"The call was made by a payphone in east Texas." He announced.
"That's a four hour drive from here." Patrick said as him and I looked at each other. What the hell was Addison doing in Texas?
"If that's four hours away, that means she could easily come back. Or we could go find her." I suggested.
"Or if she's staying close so she can watch us. Or so she can keep an eye on someone else... Sweet Boy." Patrick hinted at me.
