~~~~~~SHORT CHAPTER~~~~~~
"NO! NO! NO!" Halstead yells running toward Shaylynn as he looks at the SUVs license plate.
As he runs over to Shaylynn he pulls his phone out of his pocket and calls 9-1-1.
"9-1-1 what's your emergency?" the operator asks him.
"This is Detective Halstead badge number 51317. Shots fired, Black Suburban fleeing North on North Winchester Avenue. Henry David Young 824. Send an ambulance to 1925 West Cortland Street. My wife has been shot!" he tells the operator.
"Ambulance is in route. ETA, three minutes" the operator says, "Units are responding after the Black Suburban."
Halstead hangs up and puts his phone back into his pocket.
Crouching down, he sees Shaylynn has been hit in the shoulder, stomach, and leg.
He hurries and puts pressure on her stomach, "Shaylynn, baby can you hear me?" he asks trying not to panic.
Hearing sirens, he looks up and sees an Ambulance and Fire Truck heading his way.
Dawson and Brett hurry out of the ambulance and run to the back to get their supplies and the gurney.
They rush up and see it's Shaylynn laying on the ground.
Looking her over they see the bullets that shot her in the shoulder and leg went through but the one for her stomach is still there.
As Dawson and Brett get Shaylynn ready for transport, Casey along with Herrmann walk over and stand by Halstead.
Casey looks at him and sees tears running down his face, "Hey! She's going to be fine!" Casey tells Halstead putting his hand on his shoulder.
Halsted watches as Shaylynn's loaded into the ambulance.
He wipes his eyes and turns to the side to look at Casey and Herrmann, "Uh, Herrmann would you drive my truck to Med? Halstead asks him.
Herrmann looks at Casey, Casey nods, "Yeah! Sure, whatever you need!" Herrmann tells him.
Halstead takes his keys out of his pocket and hands them over.
"Jay! Are you coming?" Brett yells at him.
Halstead turns around and runs to the ambulance. He gets up inside, closing the door behind him.
Ambulance 61 speeds away as Squad 3 pulls up, "Casey!" Severide yells out the window, "What's going on? Why were we sent here after that false alarm?"
"Shaylynn was shot multiple times!" Casey yells at Severide.
Severide sees Herrmann in Halstead's truck driving away.
"We're heading to the hospital now!" Casey tells Severide then gets up into Truck.
Otis drives down the street with Tony following behind him.~~~~~~~
At Med, they rush Shaylynn inside.
"Dr. Halstead, you're up!" Maggie yells at him.
Dr. Halstead rushes over and sees it's Shaylynn.
"Multiple gunshot wounds. The one for the shoulder and leg went through and through. The bullet for the stomach is still in there" Dawson tells him.
They take her into Trauma 4, "Maggie, page Dr. Rhodes" Dr. Halstead asks her before he goes into the room.
Halstead looks over at his brother, "Will, help her!"
"I'll do everything I can!" Dr. Halstead tells him walking in.
"She's lost a lot of blood!" Dawson tells Dr. Halstead as they transfer Shaylynn over.
The alarms on the machines start going off, "We're losing her!" Dr. Halstead shouts.
"WILL!" Halstead yells.
"Jay! Go to the waiting room!" Dr. Halstead yells at him.
"No! I want to stay with her!" Halstead yells back.
"NOW!" Dr. Halstead yells.
Ms. Goodwin is in the ED and walks over, "Jay, why don't you come with me" she says to him.
Halstead walks away with her.
As he walks away he can hear the machines are still going off.
He turns to look at Ms. Goodwin when he sees that Shaylynn's being rushed out of the room and toward the elevators.
"She has to make it! If she doesn't, my world will end!" Halstead tells Ms. Goodwin.
Ms. Goodwin sees tears running down his face, "Jay why don't you step out and get some air" she tells him.
Halstead shakes his head 'yes', "I'll call you if anything changes" Ms. Goodwin tells him.
Halstead walks out of the ED.
Before he realizes it, he's sitting at a bar inside a restaurant having more to drink then he should.
"Hello," a dark-haired woman says to Halstead as she sits down on the bar stool beside him.
"Hi," he says to her.
"You look like you have a lot on your mind. Do you want to talk about it at my place?" she asks him.
Halstead looks at her, "Sure" he says standing up and stumbling a little.
The woman smiles at him, "Let me help you!" she says putting her arm around him.
Halstead and the dark haired woman walk out of the restaurant together.
