Chapter 30 "Does Not Speak For Me"

"WILL! NATALIE!" Halstead yells out again as he picks JJ up holding him in one arm as he tries to wake up Shaylynn.
Halstead hears running up the stairs.
Natalie runs in first and over to Shaylynn as Will comes into the room.
"Has she been eating?" Natalie asks Halstead.
"I guess," he tells her, Natalie giving him a dirty look.
Shaylynn finally starts coming to. As she starts to sit up, Natalie moves Shaylynn's shirt so she's covered up.
Sitting up, Shaylynn rubs her head. Looking around she sees she's on the floor with Natalie, Will, and Halstead looking at her.
"What happened?" Shaylynn asks.
"I'm going to assume your blood sugar dropped," Natalie tells her, "When is the last time you ate something?" she asks.
"Six this morning I think," Shaylynn tells her.
Natalie gives her a disapproving look, "You know since you're breastfeeding you can't do that! Why didn't you have anything to eat at the party?"
"I was to busy taking pictures. Then everything else that happened I didn't have time," Shaylynn says.
Natalie starts shaking her head, "Then you need to get down to the kitchen right now and get something to eat!"
Halstead puts his free hand out to Shaylynn to help her stand up, "Let's go!" Natalie tells her as she gets behind Shaylynn who's walking out the door.
Halstead sits down in the rocker and starts rocking JJ as Will stares at him, "What?" Halstead asks his brother.
"You need to make sure Shaylynn's taking care of herself! Especially since she's breastfeeding him," Will says nodding toward JJ, "If she's not taking care of herself, like eating, JJ isn't getting what he needs!"
"Shaylynn wouldn't do anything to hurt JJ!" Halstead tells Will.
"I know she wouldn't but I'm sure she gets pretty busy with him and the other six," Will adds, "And forgets all about herself!"
"You're right! I need to start watching over her better!" Halstead says.
"I hate to say it, Jay if you don't you could very well lose her to Kelly! I'm sure he would swoop right in!" Will says.
Halstead glares at his brother, "I'm heading down to make sure Natalie isn't having any problems with Shaylynn."
Will turns around, walks out of the room, and down the stairs.

Downstairs, Sam sees Natalie walking with Shaylynn.
Sam stands up and walks over to them, "What's wrong?" she asks seeing the look on Shaylynn's face.
"Shaylynn passed out," Natalie tells Sam, "She hasn't eaten since this morning so I'm guessing her blood sugar dropped!"
Sam gives her sister a very disapproving look.
Shaylynn walks past both ladies and into the kitchen.
Natalie walks into the kitchen as Sam hangs back and pulls out her phone.

Seeing that Shaylynn is sitting at the table, Natalie walks over, she sits down and looks at Shaylynn who's looking out the window, "Shaylynn, what's going on? This isn't like you," she says as Sam and Will walk into the kitchen, Will standing behind Shaylynn were she can't see him.
"I have to lose the weight or Jay will leave me," Shaylynn tells Natalie.
Natalie looks over at Sam then at Will, Natalie looks back at Shaylynn, "Jay loves you!" she says.
"He might love me but he doesn't love the weight!" Shaylynn says looking at Natalie.
"Did he tell you he thinks you should lose weight?" Natalie asks.
"No, but I can see it in his eyes," Shaylynn says looking back out the window.
Natalie looks at Will and sees he's pissed off. He turns around and walks out of the kitchen.

Once out of the kitchen, Will sees Halstead walking down the stairs. When he's at the bottom, Will grabs his arm, opens the front door, and pushes his brother outside.
Closing the door behind him, Will turns his attention to Halstead, "What's wrong with you?" Will asks.
"I don't understand," Halstead says.
"Shaylynn! She's not eating because she says she needs to lose the weight because if she doesn't she feels you'll leave her!" Will tells him.
Halstead gets a surprised look on his face, "Will, I would NEVER tell her something like that! And I would NEVER leave her because of that reason! She's listening to the damn voice in her head!" Halstead says getting pissed off, "I love her, Will!"
"You don't need to tell me. You need to tell her!" Will tells him.

Back in the kitchen, Natalie is trying to talk some sense into Shaylynn, "You need to eat!" Natalie says, "JJ is getting everything from you right now."
Natalie looks over and sees Halstead walk into the kitchen heading over to them.
"Ladies, can I talk to Shaylynn," he says.
Sam gives him a glare, as Natalie stands up. Both ladies walk out of the kitchen as Halstead sits down at the table.
"What is this I hear that you're saying you need to lose weight because if you don't I'll leave you?" Halstead asks her.
Shaylynn looks at him, "It's true!" she says, "You haven't touched me since I got home from the hospital."
Halstead shakes his head, "It has nothing to do with your weight and everything to do with when I touch you, I want you! I want you bad! And with you having JJ only a couple of weeks ago I know I have to wait!" he tells her.
Shaylynn looks at him, "Really?" she asks.
"Really!" he tells her, "Shaylynn, I love you! I know you're listening to the voice in your head but I'm not that self-centered to worry about your weight! You just had a baby! I know it takes time, so PLEASE tell that voice to be quiet because it does not speak for me!"
Halstead stands up and stands beside her chair, reaching out a hand to her. She puts her hand on his and stands up, he brings her close to him into an embrace.
Shaylynn can feel something hard against her leg, "See!" Halstead tells her, "Just having you in my arms does this! Please don't listen to that voice anymore!"
Halstead can feel Shaylynn shake her head. He pulls back from her a little and kisses her.

After a couple of minutes, they hear someone clearing their throat. They look to see it's Emily holding a box.
She starts walking toward them, "I received a call from Sam that Shaylynn wasn't eating," she says giving her brother a dirty look.
Walking over to the table she sits the box down, Shaylynn sees it's a pizza from her favorite pizza place.
"I knew if anything would get her to eat, it would be this," Emily says smiling at Shaylynn.
Emily walks back over to the doorway and yells for Sam, Stone, Will, and Natalie to come to the kitchen.
Getting into the cupboard she pulls out plates as the others walk in, "Now everyone sit down. We're all going to sit down and eat!" Emily says sitting the plates on the table, "We're ALL in this together as we are all family!"
Everyone sits down and starts putting slices of pizza on their plates.
