Chapter 32 "Alone Time"

The ladies have returned from their trip to Hawaii.
Just like Shaylynn said, everything went fine and they had no problems.
While the ladies were gone it seems Will has gotten himself into some trouble.

"Jay, what's going on?" Shaylynn asks him.
"I can't tell you," Halstead tells her.
"Don't give me that shit! You know I'll find out one way or another! So it would be best for you to tell me what's going on right now!" she tells him.
"Will's in danger. The FBI got him involved in a gangster case," he says.
"But Intelligence knew about it, didn't they?" Shaylynn questions.
The look on Halstead's face tells it all, "YOU knew about it?! How the hell could you put your brother in danger?!" she yells at him, "Now what?"
"He's going into protective custody," he says.
Shaylynn takes her phone out of her pocket, "What are you doing?" Halstead asks her.
"I'm calling someone high up that I know in the FBI. I want them to get ahold of Sam! I want someone that I know and can be trusted on Will's detail! I know they won't let Emily on it since she's a relative. Sam has no connection to him," she tells Halstead.
"You're going to get my ass in trouble!" he tells her.
"At this point, I don't care!" Shaylynn says pissed off, "You NEVER put family in danger and that's exactly what you did! You sold out your own brother! Would you do that to me and the kids?"
"Of course not! Now, you're just talking crazy!" Halstead tells her.
Shaylynn glares at him, "I'm sorry! I didn't mean that!" he tells her.
"Yes, you did! This would be a good time for you to get away from me!" she tells him with a very pissed off look on her face, "I'll make sure to clean up your and whoever the agent who was in charge of this messes!"
"Shaylynn..." Halstead says.
"Just go!" she tells him.
Halstead walks out of the kitchen.

The next day, Shaylynn meets up with Emily in Millenium Park.
"What are you up to?" Emily asks her.
"I can't tell you much! The less you know the better especially since you work for the FBI," Shaylynn tells her.
"Okay then, is everything alright between you and Jay? The last time I talked to him, he didn't seem happy," Emily tells her.
"We haven't been seeing eye to eye here lately," Shaylynn says.
"It's over what's going on with Will isn't it?" Emily questions.
"Yes and no," Shaylynn tells her, "I can't understand why he put Will in danger! That goes against everything I believe! It's like I don't know him anymore. We've also been fighting a lot."
Emily looks at Shaylynn concerned, "What is it?" Shaylynn asks her.
"It's nothing," Emily says.
"Emily," Shaylynn says, "Tell me."
"Erin transferred to Chicago, permanently," Emily tells her.
Shaylynn's face turns red, "I'm going to kill her!"
"Shaylynn," Emily says.
"She has been a thorn in my side from the beginning! Ever since Jay and I got together! In one way or another, she is always poking her nose into our business and that was from New York. Now she's back in Chicago," Shaylynn says rolling her eyes.
Emily looks at her phone to see what time it is, "I better get back to work," she says standing up.
Shaylynn stands up also, "Thanks for coming," she says hugging Emily.
"Don't do anything drastic, okay," Emily tells her.
"I'll try," Shaylynn tells her.
"See ya later," Emily says as she walks away.

Later that day, Emily stops by Halstead and Shaylynn's house.
Mary, who takes care of the kids, answers the door.
"Hi, Emily," she says letting Emily inside, "Jay and Shaylynn aren't here."
"I know, I've come to get my nieces and nephews and take them for a sleepover," Emily tells her.
"Well, you'll only have four of them to worry about. Kelly's three aren't here. His Mom is watching them while she's in town visiting and he's on shift," Mary tells her, "I'll go upstairs and pack their bags."
"Don't worry about their bags, I'll go and pack them. Just get what JJ will need for feedings," Emily tells her.
"Alright," Mary says heading toward the kitchen.

Emily heads upstairs and starts packing four bags. After she's done, she walks into the master bedroom.
Taking something out of her bag, she lays it on the bed with a piece of paper.
She walks out, picks up the bags, and heads downstairs to see Mary has everything ready for JJ and that the kids are ready to leave.
"Thanks, Mary!" Emily tells her.
"You're welcome! Guess this means I can leave," Mary says then laughs, "I'll text Shaylynn and tell her what's going on."
"I'll text her once I have everything and everyone in my car," Emily tells her.
"Alright, have a great time!" Mary tells Emily walking toward her car.
Emily gets all the kids in her car and then the bags.
Getting in the driver's seat, she takes her phone out of her pocket and sends a text to Shaylynn....

You need to hurry home!

Emily starts her car and backs down the driveway.
Giving it around five minutes, Emily is sitting at a red light.
She picks up her phone and sends a text to Halstead....

There's a problem at the house!

Emily puts her phone down as the light turns green.

Shaylynn quickly parks in the driveway and runs up to the door.
She unlocks it and rushes inside, "MARY!" she yells.
No answer.
"MARY!" Shaylynn yells again rushing upstairs.
She looks in all the kid's bedrooms and finds no one.
Walking into the master bedroom, she sees something laying on the bed with a piece of paper.
She picks the paper up and reads it.

Eight minutes go by.
Halstead pulls into the driveway and sees Shaylynn's Escalade.
He rushes up to the door, opens it, and rushes in.
"SHAYLYNN!" Halstead yells.
"UPSTAIRS!" she yells back.
Halstead rushes upstairs to see the master bedroom door is open.
He walks in but doesn't see Shaylynn, "Where are you?" he calls out.
Shaylynn comes out of the bathroom.....

Halstead looks over and smiles.
"It seems your sister thinks we need some alone time," Shaylynn says walking toward him.
Halstead takes off his shirt, "I like the way she thinks! So she has the kids for a few hours?" he asks.
Shaylynn shakes her head 'no', "All night!" she tells him.
Halstead's smile gets bigger as he wraps his arms around her pulling her closer.
He starts undoing her corset and lets it fall to the floor. Kissing her, he starts pushing her back toward the bed.

Thirty minutes later, as their making love Halsteads phone goes off.
He quickly reaches over to the bedside table, picks it up and throws it across the room.
Three minutes later, Shaylynn's phone goes off, "Jay, that's not a consequence that your phone rings then mine," she tells him.
Shaylynn climbs off of him and walks over to the dresser where her phone is.
She's not on the phone long, "There's a hostage situation at the Art Institute," she tells him as she quickly walks toward the closet.
Halstead lays there, then gets up and starts getting dressed.
Shaylynn comes out of the closet dressed and hurries downstairs.

Once there, she heads down to the basement where her gun vault is.
By the time she comes back upstairs. Halstead is waiting for by the front door, "Be careful!" he tells her.
"I don't know what I'll be doing, yet," she says.
"It doesn't matter to me! I always worry about you!" Halstead says then kisses her.
They both hurry out the door and get in their vehicles.

Arriving on the scene at the same time, Halstead heads over to where Intelligence is, as Shaylynn heads over to SWAT.
"What's going on?" Halstead asks Hank, "Why is 51 here? Is there a fire inside?"
"No, there's no fire. Someone inside, possibly a hostage, pulled the fire alarm. Because of this, we have a bigger hostage situation because the guys for Engine and some for Truck are inside," Hank tells him when shots ring out.
Everyone takes cover, at least most do.
Looking out, Boden has been shot along with a Police Officer.
The gunmen keep firing not allowing anyone to get out to them.
A couple of SWAT members rush out with shields, Shaylynn providing cover.
Halstead and Severide both see she's running out and do the same.
Severide running toward Boden as Halstead runs toward the Police Officer.
The gunmen continue to fire......

"KELLY!"

"JAY!"

"SHAYLYNN!"

Everyone hears over the sound of gunfire as one falls to the ground.
