Chapter 24 "We Need You"

After leaving the Firehouse, Halstead heads toward downtown.
"Where we going?" Shaylynn asks him.
"We're heading to the Marriott. The FBI has Sia and Erica there," he tells her.
Shaylynn puts a hand over her forehead, "I forgot all about what happened!" she tells him, she then starts crying, "Jay, I'm losing it!"
Halstead pulls over and puts on his hazard lights, "Don't say that! You are not losing it! You just got a little lost! Everyone gets lost now and then!"
Shaylynn looks at him, "I get lost enough for ten people!"
"I know what you're going through and I can help!" Halstead tells her, "As long as you allow me too!"
Shaylynn nods her head.
Halstead smiles at her. He turns off his hazard lights and drives off.

Pulling into the hotels parking garage, Halstead finds a place to park.
Shaylynn gets ready to get out of the truck when Halstead grabs her hand.
She turns and sees he has a weird look on his face, "What's wrong?" she asks.
"Do you love Kelly?" Halstead asks her.
"Jay," she says.
"I want to know!" Halstead tells her.
"Yes, I love Kelly but it's not in the way you're thinking!" Shaylynn tells him, "I'll always love Kelly but there are no feelings there!" she says putting a hand on the side of Halstead's face, "Jay, I'm in love with you and only you!"
Halstead leans forward and kisses her.

Walking into the hotel, Halstead and Shaylynn head up to the fifteenth floor.
When the elevator doors open, Emily is standing there waiting for them.
"They're in room 1520," she tells her brother.
Halstead looks at Emily and then to Shaylynn, "Go on!" Emily tells him.
He gives her an odd look but starts walking down the hallway.
"Are you alright?" Emily asks Shaylynn.
"I'm fine!" Shaylynn tells her.
"Jay was in panic mode thinking he had lost you!" Emily tells her, "When you rode off with Butch he thought for sure you were gone for good! I've never seen Jay so terrified!"
Shaylynn looks at Emily with a weird look, "I would never leave Jay for good! I just got lost!" she tells her, "I have lost so much in my life, when I heard one of the twins was gone the survival switch in my head flipped and all reasoning went out the door!"
"I'm just glad you're alright!" Emily tells her.
"Thanks! How are Sia and Erica?" Shaylynn asks.
"They're good! We have them in the same room. Keeping them together works out better. We thought maybe Sia might be difficult about the situation but she has been very nice" Emily says as they walk down the hallway.
"That's Sia! She's not like other famous people. She's so down to earth!" Shaylynn tells Emily.
When they get to the door, Emily uses her key card to open it.
Both ladies walk into the room.
As soon as Erica sees Shaylynn, she quickly walks over to her giving her a hug.
"So happy to see you're alright!" Erica tells Shaylynn.
Shaylynn backs up and smiles, "I'm fine!" she tells Erica as Sia walks up to them.
"You had both of us worried!" Sia tells Shaylynn.
"I'm alright!" Shaylynn reassures Sia.
Shaylynn looks over toward the window. She sees Sam standing there with a pissed off look on her face.
Once people start talking and not paying attention to things, Sam walks over to Shaylynn, grabs her arm and leads her out of the room into the hallway.
"Would you please get help!" Sam tells her sister, "I can't handle this anymore! I thought for sure you were gone this time when you pulled a gun on Kelly. As for Jay, I've never seen a man more terrified than him thinking he lost his wife!"
Shaylynn sees Sam wipe tears off her face.
Seeing this breaks Shaylynn's heart, "I'll call Dr. Charles tomorrow," she tells Sam.
"Promise?" Sam asks her.
"I promise!" Shaylynn tells her sister.
"I lost Justin, I don't want to lose you!" Sam says wiping away more tears.
Shaylynn walks toward Sam and hugs her.
With what's happened, it's been determined that Sia cancel her tour.
The FBI out in Los Angeles will make sure to keep her under protection until these men are found.
Since the tour has been canceled, Erica has decided to hang around Chicago so she can spend time with her brothers.

A couple of weeks have gone by.
Shaylynn kept her word and called Dr. Charles and sees him every other day and today is one of those days.
"We've seen each other for a while now," Dr. Charles tells Shaylynn, "And I need to address something."
"Okay," Shaylynn tells him.
"You saw me a few times when you were married to Kelly and didn't have as many 'episodes' as you have had with Jay," Dr. Charles says.
Shaylynn raises an eyebrow, "What are you trying to say?" she asks him.
"Are you sure Jay is the right man for you? When you were with Kelly your episodes were few and far between. With Jay, it seems you have one or a few a month," Dr. Charles tells her.
Shaylynn can't believe what she's hearing and quickly stands up scaring Dr. Charles, "I can't believe you're suggesting that by me being with Jay is causing these episodes and that I'd be better off with Kelly!" she yells at Dr. Charles, "This is our last session! If you see Sam and she asks you how things are going you better say everything is going okay!"
Shaylynn grabs her bag, glares at Dr. Charles one more time and walks toward the door, "I can't believe you! You're supposed to help! Not make matters worse!"
She opens the door and walks out.
Shaylynn gets out to her car after she gets in her phone rings.
"Hello," she says.
"Shaylynn, we need you!" she hears Hank say in a panic with people screaming in the background, "There's a protest going on downtown. There's a sniper somewhere taking out people below!"
"I'm on my way!" she tells him hanging up then makes a call.
"Meet me downtown!" she says hanging up.
She starts her Charger up and quickly pulls out of the parking lot.
Driving toward downtown, Shaylynn hits every gear.

At the protest, everyone is trying to run for cover as Police Officers are trying to find out where the shooter is.
Firefighters are trying to help but the Police Officers yell at them to take cover under their trucks.
Running past Squad, Halstead stops and bends down to help a young girl. He discovers she's gone then he's shot in the neck knocking him down.
Seeing Halstead fall, Severide comes out from under Squad and runs out to him.
He quickly reaches him to see he's been shot, "Oh God, Jay! Hold on, man!" Severide tells him as he puts pressure on his neck.
Halstead's in shock, he grabs onto Severide's arm, "Kelly," he says.
"Jay, don't talk!" Severide tells him.
Halstead takes a few deep breaths, "I have to say this because I'm not going to make it! You have to get with Shaylynn! Be a father to my kids!" he tells Severide.
"Jay, you're going to make it!" Severide tells him when shots ring out that both Severide and Halstead can hear hitting the street by them.
"Kelly, you need to take cover!" Halstead says.
"No way!" Severide says when he sees a shadow appear on Halstead.
He quickly looks over his shoulder and sees a big black mass, "BUTCH?!" Severide questions.
"Yes!" Severide hears over his radio along with every Firefighter and Police Officer seeing that they're using their frequency.
Another big black mass joins Butch to help protect Halstead and Severide, "Where is she?" Rob radios out.
"She's coming out!" everyone hears Dave say.
"You two stay with her!" Butch radios to Dan and Dave.
Shaylynn hurries out of the truck and sees Halstead laying on the street with Severide beside him.
She runs toward them, "Shit!" Dave says with him and Dan hot on her heels.
When she makes it over to them, she sees Severide has his hands on Halstead's neck and they're bloody.
Halstead reaches a hand out to her. Shaylynn takes his hand and bends down closer to him, "I love you!" he tells her then his eyes shut.
Severide looks at Shaylynn. He can't see her face but knows inside that helmet she's pissed.
She turns her head toward him and Severide is staring straight at the helmet, "Kill them!" Severide tells her.
Shaylynn stands up and starts running off toward a building she knows the shooters in.
"You can't go in the building from the ground floor!" she hears someone say over the radio, "The ground floor has been booby-trapped!"
"Dave, get that aerial up!" she tells him.
Otis starts coming out from under the truck thinking he would do it instead, "Otis, get your ass back under that truck!" Shaylynn yells at him over the radio.
Herrmann and Casey grab on to him and pull him back under.
"What are you going to do?" Butch asks her.
"I'm going to pay this prick a visit!" Shaylynn tells him as she climbs up to the ladder as Dave starts raising it.
Shaylynn starts running up the ladder shooting out the windows the closer she gets to them as the ladder gets closer to the building. By the time the ladder has reached the building she's there and jumps onto the second floor.
Dan does the same thing as Shaylynn with Dave not far behind him.
They find the shooter and kill him, then Shaylynn is back out on the street beside Severide.
She takes off her helmet as he looks up at her, "I'm so sorry, Shaylynn! Jay's gone!"
