Chapter 15 "You Owe Me"

"Why are you guys here?" Shaylynn asks them.
"We've been helping Mary out with lunch. We would bring food by and eat our lunch here. Plus I would get to see the kids more" Severide tells her.
Capp, Cruz, and Tony walk out, "We brought pizza, do you want some?" Severide asks her.
"Yeah, I'll be out in a minute," she tells him.
Severide walks out of the room.
Shaylynn starts walking for the door but gets light headed and quickly sits down causing sheer pain to go through her.
When Shaylynn doesn't come out to get anything to eat Severide takes some to her.
He walks into the Media room and sees her sitting down, "Are you okay?" he asks her.
"I'm fine!" she says lying.
He hands her a plate and a drink then sits down beside her, "Jay called me" he tells her.
Shaylynn rolls her eyes as she takes a bite of pizza.
"He told me what happened. Shaylynn, why are you treating him like this for? Nothing happened and he even told you about it!" Severide tells her.
Shaylynn glares at him, "If it hadn't have been Natalie it could have been any other woman in Chicago! He still went home with a woman that at the time he didn't know who it was! Don't you remember that's the reason why we're no longer married! You cheated on me!"
Severide looks down at this plate, "I remember the reason! I was stupid but Jay isn't! Shaylynn, he loves you like there is no other woman on Earth!"
"THEN WHY DID HE GO AND GET DRUNK THEN GO HOME WITH A WOMAN WHILE I ALMOST DIED IN SURGERY?!" Shaylynn yells at him, "You know what I don't want to talk to you about this!"
As though Main could hear her, a call comes over the radio for Squad 3, "I have to go!" Severide tells her.
He stands up and walks out of the room.
Shaylynn shakes her head and lays it back against the seat.

Ten minutes later Shaylynn hears a "Hello" come from the doorway.
She looks around the seat and sees Emily standing there, "Did Jay call you too?" Shaylynn asks her.
Emily walks in and down to the front row sitting down beside Shaylynn, "No, he didn't call me. I called him to see how you were doing. He said you were home so I came here to see you. What's going on now between you two?" she asks.
Shaylynn sighs, "While I was in surgery Jay went off to a bar and got trashed. He then went home with another woman but according to him, it's okay because it was Natalie he went home with. If it hadn't of been for Natalie he could have gone home with any woman!"
Emily just stares at Shaylynn not believing what she just heard, "What are you going to do?" Emily asks her.
"I don't know. He went home with Natalie and of course, nothing happened but it's the principle! He made the choice to go to the bar and the choice to leave with a woman" Shaylynn says, "He told me all of this after bringing me home. He wanted to talk about it but I have a habit of saying things out of anger so I told him to leave. Before he did he told me he loved me and that I was his world! How am I supposed to believe that?" she asks Emily.
"Believe it because he tells everyone how much he loves you and that you are his world! You and those kids!" Emily tells her, "Jay has changed since you came into his life! You can't see the difference but the rest of us can!"
"He had Erin before me," Shaylynn tells her.
Emily starts laughing, "Erin was a joke! Everything was about her! It was always what is Erin doing? Has Erin fallen off the wagon again? Poor Erin, everyone needs to walk on pins and needles so not to trigger anything with her! She said she loved Jay, but she loved the idea of having Jay. Like having a dog on a leash!"
Shaylynn shakes her head, "I really don't want to talk about her!" she tells Emily.
"Okay, I hate to cut this visit short but I need to get back to work," Emily tells her, "I'll stop by tomorrow."
Shaylynn smiles, "I'd like that!"
"See ya later!" Emily says standing up.
She walks to the back of the room and walks out.
Shaylynn stands up, picks up her stuff and walks out to the kitchen. When she gets there she sees Kelly's mom.
"Shaylynn, hi! How are you?" Jennifer asks her.
"Good, thank you!" Shaylynn says lying again, "What brings you by?"
"I stopped to get the kids if that's alright with you that I take them?" Jennifer asks Shaylynn.
"Sure! I don't see it being a problem" Shaylynn tells her.
Just then Shannara, Dominic, and Destiny come running into the kitchen with their stuff.
"Bye, Mommy!" Dominic and Destiny say together.
Shaylynn smiles as Shannara comes up to her and gives her a hug, "Bye, Mom!" she tells her.
"Have fun! Be good!" Shaylynn tells them.
"They will!' Jennifer tells her as she gives Shaylynn a hug.
They all walk out of the kitchen. Shaylynn then hears the front door close.
"I'm going to go see what the other three are up to," Shaylynn tells Mary.
Walking out of the kitchen she heads upstairs.
Shaylynn finds Sia and Trinity in Sia's bedroom playing dolls. She walks down the hall and sees that Titus is playing with his race track in his room.
Walking toward the Master bedroom, Shaylynn receives a text message. She turns around and hurries to the stairs.
Rushing down them, she hurries to the kitchen, "I have to go!" she tells Mary getting into her bag for her keys.
"Should you be driving?" Mary asks her.
"I have to go!" Shaylynn says again rushing for the garage.
She heads straight to her SUV, gets in and quickly backs out.
