Chapter 31 "Goon Squad"

Eight weeks have gone by.
After what happened to Shaylynn, Sam and Emily have been planning a girls getaway

Sitting in a diner, Emily and Sam wait for Shaylynn and Natalie.
After ten minutes, Shaylynn and Natalie walk in. They see Emily and Sam and walk in that direction.
Sliding into the booth, Shaylynn studies Sam's face, "What are you up to?" she asks Sam.
"What do you mean?" Sam asks Shaylynn with a sly grin on her face.
"That!" Shaylynn says, "Come on, Sam I've known you since you were diapers! I know when you're up to something!"
"Okay! Emily and I have been planning a girls getaway for the four of us," Sam says.
Natalie and Shaylynn both look at each other, "Did you forget we have kids?" Natalie says.
"And my brothers are going to MAN UP and take care of those kids!" Emily says.
"When is this girls getaway?" Shaylynn asks.
"A week from today," Sam tells her sister.
They can see Shaylynn's thinking of something, "What are you doing?" Sam asks her.
"Figuring out if that gives me enough time to store up milk for JJ," Shaylynn tells her, "He's become a real pig here lately. I'm lucky I was able to get him off my chest to come here."
Emily snickers, "I'm sure his Dad is the same way!" she says, "OUCH!" Emily lets out looking at Shaylynn who's shaking her head.
"What happened?" Natalie asks.
"Shaylynn kicked me!" Emily says reaching down rubbing her leg.
Natalie and Sam start laughing.
"So where is this getaway to?" Natalie asks.
"Hawaii. We're going to Maui," Emily tells her.
"We'll be snorkeling, relaxing and something that Shaylynn enjoys, whale and dolphin watching," Sam says seeing Shaylynn get a huge smile on her face.
Natalie and Emily both get surprised looks on their faces, "I didn't know that was on the itinerary," Emily says.
"When I saw it was offered, I put it on. Shaylynn turns into a child when she whales and dolphins," Sam says.
"I do not!" Shaylynn says.
"Oh, yes you do!" Sam tells her, "If you could have you would have jumped into the water to be with those whales we saw in Alaska," Sam says.
Emily and Natalie stare at Shaylynn, "What? I get along with animals a lot more than I do with people."
Emily and Natalie start laughing knowing that's likely true.

Returning home, Shaylynn sees all the kids are in the living room. All of them except three.
Walking into the kitchen she finds Halstead making something to eat, "Did Kelly stop by?" she asks him.
"Yes," he tells her not making eye contact.
"What's wrong with you?" she asks.
"He's still in love with you!" Halstead tells her sitting down at the table.
Shaylynn walks over to him, moves his arms, and sits down on his lap wrapping her arms around his neck, "And I'm MADLY in love with you!"
Halstead looks up at her, she bends a little to kiss him.
"What did the goon squad want?" he asks her.
Shaylynn looks at him surprised, "Goon squad?" she questions.
"You know, my sister and your's," he tells her with a smile and starts laughing.
She stands up and smacks him on the arm, "That's not nice!"
"But it's funny!" Halstead tells her.
"They've planned a girls getaway for the four of us," Shaylynn tells him.
"Girls getaway? The four of us?" Halstead questions standing up.
"Our sisters, Natalie, and myself," she tells him, "And yes, a GIRLS getaway which means you'll be here with the kids."
Halstead gets a frightened look on his face, "Oh no! These are your kids also! I don't need to always be here!" she tells him.
"What about JJ? I'm not the one producing milk for him!" Halstead says.
"Don't worry, I'll have enough stored up for him," Shaylynn tells him, "They went to all this hard work I'm NOT backing out on them!"
"Where's the getaway to?" he asks.
"Maui," she tells him.
"Hawaii?" he asks her.
Shaylynn rolls her eyes, "That's where Maui is," she reminds him.
"Do you remember what happened the last time we were in Hawaii?" he says to her.
"That was on the big island," Shaylynn says, "Nothing's going to happen this time!"
"Yeah, famous last words!" Halstead says walking around the kitchen island.
Shaylynn sticks her tongue out at him.
