Chapter 19 "Gotcha Ya"

Everyone stands up and starts walking toward the stairs until they can't go any further.
Coming up the stairs are some guys from one of the Bomb Squads laughing.
"We gotcha ya!" Johnny tells Shaylynn.
Shaylynn looks over at them pissed off, "I should shoot each and every one of you!" she tells them.
All of them get scared looks on their faces.
"Kidding! Or am I?!" she tells them, "But this was a bullshit prank!"
"Oh come on, Shaylynn! Who else is going to be able to get up here and put a bomb in a drawer of the desk you're going to be sitting at? Think about it! If someone was coming up those stairs they would hurry and put it in the first desk they come to" Johnny tells her.
Shaylynn just glares at him, "Why do I have a feeling you're going to get us back really good" Johnny says to her.
Halstead puts his hand on Johnny's shoulder, "She's already thinking about how she's going to get you back!" he tells him.
"Alright everyone, the joke's over! You guys need to be leaving because we have a case!" Hank tells them.
"Let's go, guys!" Johnny says, "We love you, Shaylynn!" he tells her walking down the stairs.
"That's not going to help you!" she says.
"Alright everyone let's get going!" Hank tells them.
Everyone starts walking down the stairs.
Atwater meets up with Shaylynn before she walks down, "Who should drive?" he asks her.
"Doesn't matter," she tells him as they walk down.
"What did you drive here?" Atwater asks her.
"My Charger," Shaylynn says.
Atwater smiles, "You're driving," he tells her.
Shaylynn smiles.

Arriving at the scene there are uniformed officers everywhere with police tape around everything they could get it around.
The first officer on the scene sees Hank and walks over to him, "This is a pretty grizzly scene!" he warns.
Walking into the house, they're directed to go down to the basement.
The first few down are Hank, Antonio, and Halstead.
"What do we have?" Hank asks the uniformed officer that's down there.
The officer moves a tarp to the side to reveal four kids no older than eleven that have been shot in the head and their genitals mutilated.
"It looks to be a child pornography ring. This was left behind" the officer tells Hank handing him a laptop.
The rest finally make it down the stairs.
Walking up beside Halstead, Shaylynn sees the children.
She covers her mouth and quickly heads back up the stairs.
Halstead looks at Hank, "Go!" Hank tells him.
Halstead runs up the stairs after Shaylynn.
Once upstairs, Halstead finds her in the kitchen at the sink, "Are you alright?" he asks.
Shaylynn turns off the water, she turns around to look at him.
It just so happened at the time she was getting sick a paramedic was walking through the kitchen.
When she turns around they hand her some gauze to wipe her mouth.
"That was really unprofessional!" Shaylynn tells Halstead.
"No one is going to think anything about it!" Halstead tells her.
Hank comes upstairs to check on Shaylynn, "How you feeling?" he asks her.
"I'm fine! That shouldn't have happened!" she tells him.
Hank looks at Halstead then looks back at Shaylynn, "You're human! If it doesn't affect a person in some way then something is wrong with them!" he says, "Why don't you go home for today. All we'll be doing right now is gathering evidence. You can come back to tomorrow when you feel better."
Halstead grabs Shaylynn's hand, "That sounds like a great idea!"
Shaylynn shakes her head 'no', "I'm part of the team now! I have to stick it out!" she tells them.
"Then you stay up here!" Hank tells her, "Stay with her!" he tells Halstead.
Halstead nods.
Hank turns around and heads back down to the basement.
"Let's go outside," Halstead tells Shaylynn grabbing her hand and leading her out the back door.
"Are you sure you're alright? You still look a little green" Halstead asks her once they're outside.
"Seeing those children brought up a lot of bad memories. I saw things like that over in the Middle East, that's why I can't understand why it affected me so much" she tells him.
"Could it be because you have kids of your own now?" Halstead asks her.
"Could be but it shouldn't affect me any differently should it?" Shaylynn asks him as they walk to the front of the house.
Shaylynn looks over to see Atwater and Upton talking then they kiss.
"Why didn't you tell me about Kevin and Hailey?" Shaylynn asks him.
"I thought I had," Halstead tells her.
"Nope!" she says "So your partner is dating my partner," Shaylynn says smiling.
"They could say the same about us! Your partner is married to my partner" he says.
Shaylynn starts laughing, "I think Kevin's waiting on me," she tells Halstead.
They walk over to her car, "Voight is sending us back to the District to get a head start on searching for the owner of the house" Atwater tells her.
Halstead looks at her, "I hope you're feeling better!" he tells her then gives her a quick kiss before walking back toward the house.
"Kevin, I'm sorry! I don't know what got into me!" Shaylynn tells him apologetically.
"Girl, don't think anything about it! It could have happened to any one of us!" he tells her.
Shaylynn holds her keys out to him, "You drive!" she tells him.
Atwater smiles, "Are you sure?" he asks.
"If I wasn't sure I wouldn't be handing my keys over to you," Shaylynn tells him.
Atwater takes her keys.
