(ORIGINALLY POSTED 13 MAY '18)
It's already the following Friday, the week has gone really quick, not a lot happened, it was kind of boring actually, I didn't have a Maths session this week because he was busy with marking and detentions, but we have spoken though, we didn't really speak about anything important though, it was more just chit chat. I hung out with Jake, Alice and Elliott a lot this week, even after school because I wasn't having the sessions. They did wind me up a little bit, but I think they're finally getting tired of me saying no to them every time. Those guys are a good laugh, at one time, we decided to play truth or dare, that was pretty funny, instead of asking if they wanted truth or dare, we chose, and then we had to dare them or ask them. Elliott dared Jake to shout 'I like the tweenies' out of his window, but if you got told to do or say something you really didn't want to then you had to do something you didn't like instead,. Some of it was gross but overall it was funny.
Friday again and I am looking forward to seeing my Dad, I have missed him over the last 2 weeks. It's going to be good to see him again and spend time with him.
I feel my phone buzz in my pocket, I see it's my Dad calling so I answer.
"Hey Daddy" I say.
"Hey sweetheart how are you doing?" He asks.
"I'm great, I'm looking forward to coming home for the weekend, I've missed you" I say excitedly, so excited I think I squealed a little bit.
"Addison sweetie, I've called with some bad news, you're not going to like it" He says, my excitement instantly disappears as sadness takes over my emotions.
"I'm staying here again aren't I?" I ask with sadness in my voice.
"I'm so sorry sweetie, this case is taking longer than I expected and it needs my full attention, I promise I will bring you home next weekend, I won't let you down on that one" He says.
"Ok fine, I understand, you need to work dad" I say trying not to let any tears escape from my eyes.
"I'm really sorry Addison, we'll do something special next weekend, whatever you want to do" He says.
"Ok, well, I guess I'll see you next weekend then, love you daddy" I say.
"I love you too sweetheart" He says and hangs up. Well, there goes that weekend out of the window, again. Maybe next weekend will be more successful. Unless he cancels again. I go to my class, which happens to be Maths, the timing of that, I can tell Mr Colt I can join him for dinner after-all. I make my way to his classroom and knock on the door.
"Addi, how are you today?" He asks as he sees me. I go in the room and sit on a table.
"I was great until my Dad called me and told me I am staying here for the weekend again, he promised I will go home next weekend but I dunno" I say.
"I'm sorry, is it work again?" He asks.
"Yeah, a case is taking a while and needs his full attention" I say.
"So what are you going to do for the weekend instead?" He asks.
"Well, if your offer still stands, I'd like you take it and join you and your family for dinner" I say and his face instantly lights up as he smiles.
"Yeah of course, I'd like that, meet me at my place tomorrow, around noon?" He asks, I guess to make sure I'm free then.
"Yeah sure, I'll be there, at noon" I say.
"Awesome, I'm glad you can join me, I mean I'm sad for you that you're missing your Dad again, but I'm happy you're going to be with me" He says.
"Mr Colt I get it" I say as I laugh.
