(ORIGINALLY POSTED 16 APRIL '18. Messed up the chapters..)
The following day, I'm in class, English with Mrs Hall-Plug, she seems to be in one of her moods, she's got us sitting in silence reading a book while she sits at her desk texting or playing on her phone. The book she has us all reading is Romeo and Juliet, it's an ok read but I think I prefer the film, Leonardo DiCaprio.
"Hey, Addi, how far are you in the book?" Jake asks me, whispering.
"Page 58, you?" I ask.
"47, I don't really like reading, I prefer the films" He says.
"Hey, you two, quiet or detention" Mrs Hall-Plug says.
"But we're talking about the book" I point out.
"Miss Taylor, isn't it? Well, I'll see you in here after school for detention, now shut it" She says.
"But, I can't today, I have a Maths session after school" I quickly say.
"Well you should have thought about that before you opened your trap, now, shut it!" She says in a demand. I go to retaliate but Jake stops me by shaking his head so I just continue reading. After a lot of waiting, and literally counting down the minutes, the bell finally goes.
"Finally" Jake says as we stand up.
"Ok class, you have to finish the book by tomorrows lesson or you get detention, now sod off" She says.
"That's nice" I say quietly.
"How are we supposed to finish this by tomorrow?" Jake asks rhetorically.
"I suggest you don't take your eyes off it until it's finished" She says. We don't say another word as we just walk out of the room.
"Great, I have a detention, I'm supposed to have Maths" I say as we walk down the corridor.
"Ooh, someone's eager to learn her Maths" Jake says.
"How long are you going to keep that up?" I ask.
"Until you admit you like him" He says.
"I like him, as a friend, as a teacher" I say.
"Have you even thought about the possibility, or are you just trying to convince yourself?" He asks. This is ridiculous.
"Neither, I don't think anyway" I say a little confused.
"Anyway, Mrs Hall-Plug shouldn't have given you a detention for today" He says.
"All I did was tell her we were talking about the book" I point out.
"I know, what I mean is that the detention should be tomorrow or the next day, not today" He explains.
"Oh, ok, well I'm gonna have to just tell Mr Colt that I can't do Maths because of the detention" I say.
"When do you have Maths?" He asks.
"Now" I say. "Speaking of which, I'm this way" I say pointing down another corridor.
"Ok, well I'm not so, I'll see you later" He says and we go our separate ways. I walk down the corridor and get to the classroom.
"Hi sir" I say as I walk in.
"Hello Addi, how are you today?" He asks as I sit down, nobody has arrived yet.
"I was ok until half hour ago" I say.
"What's wrong?" He asks as he walks over and stands in front of me with his arms crossed.
